Peaceful getaway

Cliftons Farm
Spent 1night here and had a relaxing weekend. The pitches are nothing fancy but are hard standing and would be ok in all weathers. There are chickens roaming around which we liked to see. There is a pub within easy walking distance but is closed until July 2021 due to refurbishment For £12 a night I would definitely recommend. The owners were very nice and helpful.

Basic but Beautiful CL

Cliftons Farm
We have always stayed on club sites or large commercial sites but this year decided to try out CLs as a way of going cheaper, and therefore more frequently. Cliftons farm is the first CL we have ever stayed on and the experience was really positive. The site is very pretty and clean with plenty of space between pitches. We knew in advance the toilet block was being redone so cannot comment on that. It is a working farm so there were geese and chickens roaming freely and cows being taken to and from the field. The lack of park etc didn't stop our children (age 7, 5 and 1) enjoying themselves, running around the orchard with sticks and watching the animals. Unfortunately the local pub was closed for refurbishment so we couldn’t go there, it opens in July 2021 and will be perfect for visitors as it is a 5 minute walk. We arrived after 5pm so found our own pitch (as Advised to do so on the phone) and paid in the farm shop the following day. We had originally booked on for 2 nights but decided to stay a third. The owners were very friendly and the site is very good value for money, even without the toilet/ shower block. We will definitely come again when the toilet block and pub re open.

Good value site

Cliftons Farm
The quiet site is easily accessed, being about 3 mls off the A6. All pitches are hardstanding, and divided into two separate areas, with the newer ones at the back of site having their own waste water drains. Because of the virus both the toilets and recreation room were closed but the farm shop was open. The farm produces it's own ice cream and sells organic beef and raw milk. There is a pub 0.25mls from the site although I cannot comment on the food it serves. Site access is good with a long pull in off the lane to the site's gate. The lane itself is reasonably quiet and fine for walking one's dog, and the surrounding area is very popular with road cyclists. The CL is good for access to Beacon Fell Country Park and the the Forest of Bowland. Garstang is the nearest town for shopping although Preston is not far away. The site does need a bit of TLC but is good value at £12 pn. We will certainly use it again when we want to stay in this area.

Under Rated Site, it's very good... see pro's and con's.

Cliftons Farm
Pros; Free shower. Toilets x2. Washing machine (payable). Recration/games room. Fridge/Freezer. Great surroundings (sheltered around the orchard). Lovely owners of a working farm, (Iris, Tom and their baby daughter). Great Organic Farm Shop, with raw milk, yogurt, com pots, eggs, meat and steak to die for.... I bought a rib-eye from here and I could've cut with a spoon after 5 mins on the hot plate. Gorgeous. Pub (The Green Man) about 500 yds away (doesn't open Mondays). Sells food and beer (see cons). Cons; Pub is handy, but beer expensive and the food disappointing... we had x3mains and all were poor. I can cook far better for myself (see pros on Farm Shop). Summary - this site is extremely good value for money for what you get, and the owners are hardworking farmers, with a great farm shop ..... we have already booked again for July for x3 nights..... so that speaks for itself. This is a hidden gem :)

A 5th Wheel adventure!

Cliftons Farm
We stayed here late January 2019 when snow had fallen! One narrow bridge to negotiate and untreated road was a bit hairy. Site is adjacent to farm house and farm shop which sells excellent unpasteurised milk, amazing yoghurt and meat / eggs from the farm. For a 5th wheel again the access was a bit tight with overhanging bushes and trees but opens up into a nice set of pitches in an orchard and bigger area with hardstand pitches. Fortunately again we were the only people on site so access was easy but there is a very awkward bend flanked by a tree and large boulder which would have made access impossible if the other hard stand pitches had been occupied. Site does look like it needs a bit of tlc, with unfinished proposed new shower block facilities and a broken water point post but the owner says they have just not been as busy recently (the local pub had closed) and I understand the economics when CLs are priced very cheaply. There was a useable toilet and shower near the farm building but we used our own facilities and emptied perfectly well. A very peaceful site, nice owners, great site produced dairy foods and a fully fenced pond to allow viewing of ducks and chickens which gave use fun watching their antics. We would return for sure.
