Duck Entertainers!

Quassu Lakeside
We stopped at this CL on our way home as our plans to stay in Derbyshire had to be changed. This is a 'down to earth' CL,nothing fancy BUT has everything for a very quiet pleasant stay. The pitches are sited so that the best view over the fishing lake is available and the lake is used often by keen fishermen and ofcourse the entertaining daily visit of ducks!! Yes, the site is basic and has no manicured lawns..it's a field and as such, the grass underfoot is a bit long but not a problem to us. The site is next to a "horse & carriage " business & although there was little activity during our few days stay & the horses were very quiet, we were made aware of such, by the large pile of horse manure near our pitch..giving off it's pungent smell. Again, this didn't bother us but might be a problem for some people not expecting such an aroma! It is a quiet farm field CL … and that's the attraction, plus, the local pub is about 150yds. from the site & offers a varied food menu, which we felt was a bit expensive but still worth a visit. The name of the pub is now "THE UGLY DUCKLING", recently refurbished. The young team of staff were really friendly. In our opinion, the pub is set up more as a restaurant and prices seem to support this. However, it appears to be very popular and booking might be required on a weekend. A "Toby Carvery" is a short drive from the site towards Wellington. We felt very relaxed and comfortable for our few days on this CL. Mr Holder informed us where we could find water & chemical waste area. There is a 'map' on the gate identifying the chemical waste point, situated within the farm buildings. The water point is hidden from view from most pitches by overgrown hedging. It is fixed to a wall building which helps to mark the boundry of the field, near the narrow end of the lake. Any shopping requirements, we found Wellington to have all that we needed & was quite an interesting small town in it's self. We would be happy to use this CL again if our plans to visit Shropshire included this area, & would recommend "Quassu Lakeside." as a base.

Quassu Lakeside
All other reviewers are relevant.  It's a lovely quite location ideal if you are visiting Ironbridge.  We stayed 4 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend.  The ground is pretty level and facilities easily accessible.  But mind the horse & duck manure.  It could do with a good grass cutting. For the tekkies Vodafone 3G is good as is TV reception off a standard omni TV antenna. My wife chose it for its prettiness and the little lake, our dog thought she was in heaven!  We'd definitely go back there again.

Lovely location

Quassu Lakeside
We had two nights in this CL , its is next to a fishing lake, so lovely outlook from our motorhome, we didn't close the blinds till the last of the sunlight as we didn't want to miss out on the lovely views and sunset. Mr Holder was very welcoming and friendly. the facilities are basic but as described in the CC directory. A Big bonus is the fact there is a pub within walking distance to the CL which serves food. We will certainly come again, the site was within easy drive to Ironbridge and all the museums

Almost perfect.

Quassu Lakeside

Lets get the only gripe I have with this CL out of the way, it is a bit tatty around the edges, in so much as the grass needs cutting around the fresh water tap and a couple of other areas, that's it, gripe over.

This a little gem of a CL, situated along side a small fishing lake, it is a haven of tranquillity, the only thing that disturbed my slumbers was the wives snoring and being awake, the sound of owls hooting in very subdued tones.

Access to the local towns of Wellington, Telford and Iron-Bridge with it's visitor attractions is simplicity it's self.

Those of you who may have read some of my reviews will be aware of my liking for the odd alcoholic beverage in village pubs, this site ticks that box exactly, as the Bucks Head pub is almost within touching distance, and, they sell good honest fair priced food to boot, with one of the warmest receptions you're likely to find anywhere.

The fishing lake is leased by a fishing club, but if, like me, you like to dangle a hook in the water you can fish it for £4 a day payable to the site owner.

Would we return, YES, providing there's room for me after this review.

This is an excellent site. We have stayed on several occasions as it is peaceful and very convenient for our family in Telford. The pub is also good for a drink or a meal and it is very attractive beside the fishing lake. Electric hook-up is a bonus and this is an excellent attraction for us as all we need is this and firm ground. The location is very good for Telford, Shrewsbury and visits to Wales. The owner is always helpful and accommodating- combining a general oversight with respecting privacy. If we fished- this would also be an attraction.
