Excellent

Slate Hall
Beautiful site, Very quiet (apart from occasional aircraft in the distance). Really nice to find a site that takes recycling seriously. lovely level field with plenty of taps available. Lots to see and do in the area. Finchingfield, a tourist hotspot is only a few miles away and well worth a visit. There is a CO-OP supermarket not far away as well. We liked it so much we have booked again for another weekend.

Great peaceful site

Slate Hall
After having initial issues with where we parked all was resolved. Had a great hard standing pitch near the toilet block. Susan was very helpful. Easy to find with the directions given. Would definitely recommend this site.

Restful site

Slate Hall
We stayed Spring 2023. From this site (in Essex) you can see Suffolk and Cambridgeshire as the three counties meet close by! I note somebody complained about tree damag on arriving, well yes it is a bit tight, but with an SUV and a large caravan I drove in without any problem. We were last there when it was run the the parents of the current site owner, there have been changes to space out the caravans in the intervening years and I think it was a good move. I understand the village pub has re-opened as a community run business with limited opening. Neighbouring Steeple Bumpstead has a village pub serving excellent lunches, and in nearby Sturmur is a very nice pub; while Haverhill has all the shops and restaurant chains. My only criticism of this site is that is is under the flight path for Stanstead airport and the aircraft noise can be disturbing if you are sensitive to noise. Stayed before, will stay again some time !

A Wonderful Site!

Slate Hall
We stayed on Slate Hall Cl for 4 nights and found it to be our perfect site. Well spaced out pitches each with electricity and water. Very clean, nice toilet and shower (paid £1 per shower which gives plenty of time). Recycling area very tidy and well marked out. There is plenty of choice of grass or hard standing pitches. Lovely scenery across the fields. Although we didn't meet Susan, mostly due to the weather or us being out, we did communicate via text and email. She kindly offered for us to stay as long as we wanted on our departure day, which we really appreciated. The area has lots and lots of walking through villages and farms, perfect if you like a walk/hike/ramble. The local pub is friendly, close and does lovely food. Steeple Bumpstead is near by and also has a couple of friendly pubs and a garage with a well stocked shop. All in all a very good, enjoyable stay and we will definitely be returning.

Pretty site, but we had a problem with tree damaging the caravan at entrance to the site

Slate Hall
Good communication prior to arrival and helpful with advice for local bus and taxis that we wanted. Has a shower, but informed it was out of action, when we driving to the site. Was not a problem as we use our own shower. No one to greet, which was okay, accept would have been useful as could help to guide us onto the field. Our caravan is 7ft wide, so this maybe something to consider, if anyone has something similar. ( I think ii will mention the size of our caravan in the future) . It was very unfortunate that a tree damaged a rare corner on the top of caravan. We used the site to go to a concert at Audley End, which was about 9 miles away Plenty of space between pitches and nice and level
