I got a new Mio SatNav for Christmas and today received the following warning by emails:

Due to a recent change in the French legislation system please be informed that as of January 4th 2012 the use of safety camera information in all GPS units, on French territory, is prohibited . This affects all GPS providers. 

Mio have provided a patch to the maps to disable safety camera information for France.  Apparently, we need to be careful in France as the French police are checking.  Having the unit switched off may not be enough.
