Utraflow water inlet issue

Last year we went to SW France.

About four days after pitching up water started to splurge from the inlet point every time the tap was turned on. Since I had a brand new spare pump I just swapped it over. Problem solved. Until four days later the same thing started to happen. Some internet research, which I didn't find easy on a mobile, led me towards the pressure switch. A play around with the switch and seemed sorted, certainly enough to last us out.

So this year comes around and I know I might have an issue to solve. Sure enough, connect up the aquaroll and pump and water pours out from the inlet. Following previous experiences, I removed the pressure switch and tested it with a multimeter. The switch seemed unreliable. £35 a new switch and no improvement. Next step, work backwards. The inlet has a built in NRV. A few simple tests and it appeared that water could flow back out but not in. That would do it surely? £80 a new inlet fitted and no improvement. Much head scratching. Go right back to beginning. Disassemble the pistol connector and discover the hose had become completely detached from the pistol. The crimped clamp Utraflow use is quite simply cr**.  replace it with a jubilee clip (£2.80 for 10) and job done.

So what have I learned?

Start at the easy end and do it thoroughly. Silicone grease on O rings to ease input and extraction.

Ultraflow pistol design is awful. I suspect it was caused by the intense heat, around 40deg C and aquaroll was on sunny side, softening the water pipe and the clamp is not up to the job, a bit of water pressure and a bit of hammer from on/off  pump and hose was eased off. Furthermore there is no rib on the attachment point for the hose/clamp to go past, a standard on any car hose connections.

I know I might have caused/helped first failure with sausage fingers pulling pistol out but second one was never pulled out before failure.

Just thought I would share the experience in case anyone else has similar issue.
