Massive pitches and so restful

Booked one night last minute and Neville’s attitude on the phone was as good as his site. Arrived that morning to meet him and we had pitch overlooking a lake. Electric and water nearby. Pitches massive and I mean massive! Walked around the 3 lakes and alongside small river. Loads birdlife and saw a munkjac drinking the other side of river. So peaceful here. Would we come again - certainly. It’s on our list for a revisit!

Excellent.

For a new CL site, this ticks all the basic boxes. Water and electric are well laid out and the disposal point is as good as it gets. Walking around the on site Lakes was superb, I just wish my husband had taken some fishing gear (small daily charge). The area has country walks in all directions which are very accessible. We followed the footpath toward Little Waltham. The River Chelmer at this point is small and charming. The owner is welcoming and helpful and has made a great job of opening this new location. We will return. The main gates are close around 7pm, something to remember if you drive to the local pub, so take a bike or use the footpaths in and out.

Great introduction to motorhoming!

I have never booked a campsite before and never hired a motorhome! We were staying here as we had a wedding to attend nearby and were not sure what to expect. We were delayed and had a difficult journey up, however Neville was totally understanding and chilled and his approach made our stay just perfect. There for help but left to do your own thing. Our daughter made friends with the girls in the caravan next to us and the couple to our left were equally welcoming. We were able to use the electrics and water so easily and emptying our cassette toilet (for the first time) was easy! We would definitely return if in the area and it has made us realise how we prefer a smaller site after being in a much larger one.

Sunny times in Essex

Enjoyed this new site. Spacious and well maintained. Owner called round regularly to make sure everything was fine. Pitches away from the busy road so peaceful. Easy access to city centre. Would use buses another time, when safe. River walk nearby to Little Waltham Grandchildren enjoyed the rope swing over the shallow river. Will definitely use this site again. Thank you.. excellent.

Our First CL Visit...Lovely Site!

This is a new CL and has been created with the caravanner/motorhomer in mind. Neville the owner was very welcoming and offered to help us on pitch if required. Pitches are spread out around the perimiter of a large field overlooking the fishing lakes. The field is slightly sloped in places, we had to use a small levelling ramp to level up and had no issues. Electric hook up points are neat and well positioned. There is plenty of space for the largest outfit with the largest awning on these pitches. The Elsan point is also very well designed and easy to use. Ample room in a large bin for waste too. Grey waste to be disposed of in the hedgerow. I was nervous about visiting my first CL, but my stay was wonderful. I stayed for one night and have booked up a further four nights in August. A star has been lost for peace and tranuility as the motorhome next to me had 3 small dogs and 1 large dog. Large dog off the lead roaming and small dogs barking excessively for a good few hours. From a site point of view it is generally quiet. I went outside at 3am and it is pitch dark. There is no light pollution and the stars were very clear. If you like astronomy then on a clear night this would be a great place to set up a telescope and view the night sky. A short walk down the River Chelmer and the kids can paddle in there and play on a rope swing. We had hours of fun, I would highly recommend this CL.

If teaching worms to swim is not for you....

A new CL, completed during lockdown, on an established and popular fishery (See it’s own website if interested), the site is already very popular with fisher men and women, but if teaching worms to swim is not for you then the lakes are very pleasant. Nice walk from the site. Lots of wildlife and even more in the evenings. Some road noise during the day, depends on the wind direction but pretty quiet in the evening. A very pleasant site, well done Neville.

Fantastic CL

We have stayed on many CL’s over the past 20 years and this one is one of our best ones. Everything we needed was there and Neville couldn’t have been more helpful if he tried. Nice to meet some other club members there we recognised too. Nice tidy site well thought out. New shrubs growing up that will hide the amenities soon. Nice walks. Fantastic fishing the best we have done. Ordered a Chinese one night that was easy for the company to find. Thoroughly recommend and will return soon! Loved having the tap close by and EHU was very good 😄. See you soon!
