Great site with easy access to surrounding attractions

My wife and I (plus 2 Labradors) stayed on the site from the 18th to 23rd July 2018. We have stayed on many sites over the years but this is one you will go back to time and time again. It is tranquil very clean and communal facilities are excellent. Plean Country Park lies 1 mile away approx. and is marvellous for walking dogs before we went off to view areas of interest and again before we returned to unwind on the site of an evening.

Great site

A great site and lovely surroundings. All the pitches are hard standings with power and your own water tap. There are two toilets and a shower to boot, Grant and Gillian are extremely nice people and make you feel welcome and will try there utmost to make your stay a nice one. Both of them work very hard to keep the site tidy with all the grass cut regularly and the toilets and shower kept very clean and fresh handtowels daily. Find the negative review rather strange the motorway noise is not intrusive and would never wake you up and most of the time you hear nothing, it depends on the wind direction as for the toilets I recently stayed for a few weeks and saw Grant and Gillian cleaning the toilet and showers daily and checking them later at night as well. I think that this is a great site and Grant and Gillian have put a lot of effort and money into it. Great site with lots to see and do in the area. Check it out you will not be disappointed.

First Class

Just had a terrific weekend yet again at this First Class Site, can’t believe the review below. No noise, not dirty and clay pigeon shooting is one and half miles away. Large hard standing pitches with mains electric and water connections with added bonus of toilets and shower. Immaculate site with friendly owners who just want you to enjoy yourself and enjoy the lovely countryside and local amenities in the surrounding area. Do yourself a favour and come and see for yourself, we will certainly be back. The Hares

Disappointed -- noisy & in some places dirty

After reading the other reviews we expected a great time at this site. Were we just unlucky? When we arrived it was lovely & quiet & the site is in a lovely location, but for the next four days the motorway noise was intrusive, even waking me up at 6am through ear plugs & sending me home a day early. The previous evening to my early departure there had been over 3 hours of clay pigeon shooting right next to the site, which hadn't helped matters. We also thought the shower block had issues. Whilst the toilet & shower themselves were clean, one look up around the building made you think it had never been cleaned. Green mould was growing all over the entry duckboarding, which could have been scrubbed off in 10 minutes. The same stagnant inch of water with dead insects floating in it sat outside the shower block in the mop bucket for 5 days, turning my stomach each time I went in there. Whilst fresh flowers are a nice touch the same dead ones for the whole 5 days are not. I wonder again if we were just unlucky. We have stayed on 2 other CL's this year, which were cheaper and better. We would not return here again.

Great little site

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of our tour. Were welcomed on arrival by the owner, who gave us our pitch number and welcome pack, and had a chat with him for a few minutes about the weather at the time, (hot, hot hot!!) We got all set up, the tap on the pitch is always an added bonus, and just enjoyed the piece and quiet! As we'd been away for a while, the mrs wanted to freshen the towels up in the washing machine provided. When she went to retrieve the towels, the machine had decided to have a rest! Went up to the house to report to the owners, and he was so apologetic. He got the soaking wet towels out of the machine, took them to his house and re-washed them, then hung them on his line to dry! Not the type of service you get on many sites. The surrounding area is simply stunning. Just a short drive into Falkirk to see the magnificent Falkirk Wheel, a short drive from there to see the Kelpies. Over to Sterling to see the castle and the Wallace Monument. And also only a short drive over to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs. All in all a great site, with great service, and in a great location. See you soon, Carr's Hill

Lovely site

Stayed here for 2 weeks whilst visiting family in the area. Could not have been made more welcome by Grant who was very helpful, allowing us the only pitch that was near enough to the chemical point for us to pump out the tanks on our American 5th wheel. Great to have the use of a washing machine and drying line ( thanks so much Grant for doing my wash and hanging it out to dry when the machine broke down, I don't think you would get that service on any other CL! ) Will definitely return when coming "home" again.

The Best of CL's

There are many sites that charge this price these days, but none that provide so much for the fee. This site has everything you could wish for - two loos, a shower, recycling, good Wi Fi, spacious pitches, well cut grass. a welcome pack, amenable owners, fresh towels and even flowers in the well built loos, an excellent information hut with full local and general information, and an inexpensive washing machine. They even provide bird food to top up the bird feeders distributed about the site. The area is quiet - not a working farm! - and the grounds of the site are very well laid out with full hardstanding and also small trees, shrubs and neatly kept hedges. There are up to 10 pitches here, but we have found this to be the case on many CMC CL's, and as long as they are spacious, it seldom matters. However, there are a couple of pitches here that are just hardstanding, with no grass area. This site is not expensive - it offers great facilities for the price - as much as on a CMC main site - and a lot cheaper than the main sites too! Highly recommended - one of the best sites we have ever been on anywhere, and conveniently placed to access all of the Eastern part of central Scotland - Edinburgh arena, Striling and Glasgow, as well as being within good reach of Loch Lomond and the Trossacks. We visited in late June, and there are in any case only 6 vans on site, well spread out due to the larger site size! Highly recommended.

Disapointed

Although this is a nice site, it has more than the prescribed 5 pitches expected of a CL. We booked three months ahead and were assigned pitch 9 which had no grass area to use for our dog. (10 pitches total) It is a steep climb from the bottom of the site to the toilet disposal area. The owners are well organised with arrival packs, which is nice but means you have no choice of pitch. The price was expensive and therefore I am more critical of the service provided at this site.

Excellent Site

Visited Carr's Hill for the first time in May and what an amazing site and wonderful owner. Received welcome package which was much appreciated. The site was immaculate with everything available for anyone in caravan or motor home. Peaceful and quiet with two dog walks available one on site and one at end of lane way. Loved this place so much we stopped by on our way back to ferry for further two nights. Couldn't fault Carr's Hill just perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.

A lovely site

There was a welcome pack when we arrived, you choose your pitch we had no 5 which needed ramps but that was ok, we were near the toilet block and there is a tap on every pitch. There are 10 pitches in total but it was quiet with only a few vans there at the time we were there. We took our car as we live fairly local so we went to the Falkirk wheel. Normally we choose sites with a bus near by or be able to walk into towns and villages. If you are in a motorhome bare that in mind that there is nothing local. But if you want a quiet weekend or like walking it is ideal. Access to the site is good and the pitches are nicely set out with space between. There is a shower which we didn't use so cant comment and 2 toilets all very clean with a clean towel in there. Overall a lovely site and would definatly go back.
