Excellent Site

This is an excellent place to stay, with everything you could possibly need and more! There is an information hut with books, cds, dvds, word search books, maps, board games etc, even a pair of binoculars to view the magnificent wildlife. Rupert and Karen are the new owners, and nothing is to much trouble, they were both very welcoming, and also came to see us before we left, Karen even brought us some of her wonderful brownies. I cannot stress enough what a brilliant site this is to stay. Very dog friendly, our 2 large dogs loved it. the site is mowed and grass collected, just like a lawn! I’ve never seen a site so immaculate. Another nice factor, is entry is through an electric gate, and is very secure. We stayed for 11 nights in May We will be returning next time we are in the area.

Amazing

This site is in a beautiful location, very peaceful and fantastic views. Karen and Rupert are a lovely couple and made us very welcome from meeting us on arrival to saying our goodbyes and even had some homemade "lemon drizzle cake" to have with our cuppa one day. Will certainly be back for more visits !

Paradise Plus

What a gem of a site. Peace and tranquility, wonderful views, and lovely, helpful, new owners. We stayed here in May for 8 nights and would happily have stayed for 8 weeks! In our view it's definitely Paradise Plus and we'll soon be back.

Fantastic

Before reviewing this site I have to apologise to Karen and a Rupert if we caused any damage to the grass when we left. It wasn’t until we got to the road I discovered our caravans offside brake was binding. We had a wonderful time at this peaceful CL. We were met by the lovely new owners of Pencraig Karen and Rupert. The is approached through an electronically operated gate, down a short but fairly steep slope. The site has a toilet, shower, ehu etc.. the views are stunning. We shopped in Welshpool and Newtown both of which are about 15 miles from site. There is so much to do in the area so were kept busy for our 6 night stay. This is a CL that we will definitely return to.

Extra Special

What makes this C.L. so special? Perhaps the question should be ‘Who makes….?’ And the answer, of course, is ‘The owners, Janet and John’. This delightful couple seem to have anticipated the caravanner’s every need. They are available to help and advise, but never intrusive. They keep everything well-maintained so the site looks really good. The summerhouse is packed with local and tourist information, maps, books, DVDs, indoor and outdoor games to borrow. There are good quality toiletries in the shower and toilet. Then there is the fantastic view, the ease of pitching and the peace and quiet. There are plenty of places to visit: Powis Castle, the interesting old town of Welshpool, the Montgomery Canal for walking and cycling, Lake Vyrnwy and various gardens. True, none of them are on the doorstep, but then Pencraig is a place where you can really get away from it all. If you fancy a day without driving, then borrow a large-scale map from the information room and walk from site, or relax on site and drink in that view. If you’re reading this and other extremely positive reviews and thinking ‘A site like that will already be booked up’ then you may well be wrong. We stayed for 6 nights in August and on only one of those nights were there more than two caravans on site. Many caravanners may overlook this area and head straight for the coast. Those who do miss a real gem of a C.L.

Response from the Club:

Thank you so much for your reviews and we are so delighted you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to advise that Janet and John have left the CL Site and Pencraig CL is now under new ownership. The good news is the new owners, Karen and Rupert, are still running the site as a CL with the Club and look forward to welcoming members of the Club to stay with them.
