Simply great

We arrived here on the 20th May after an easy journey on good - if hilly - roads with the site entrance immediately off the roundabout, and were greeted by cheerful friendly and very helpful staff. We were directed to our pitch where we were allowed, as is everyone, to site the van according to ones wishes. The fully serviced pitch had everything to hand even a picnic table with two bench seats. There was a slight slope of some 50mm across the pitch, not a problem. The site is well protected on the perimeter with trees but inside it is quite open with large pitches and lots of open space. There is some hedging and plants to afford a degree of privacy but not too much. The facilities, some four blocks, are very clean, some are ultra modern and even have irons and piped music. Privacy cubicles are the norm. There is a large dog walking field. The whole site, quite large and full for the Bank holiday weekend has a sense of tranquility about it though there was a lot going on. We noticed a lot of children who had lots of space to play safely as well as a playground. The football field is out of use at the moment due to drainage work for more facilities. All in all a great site and we can honestly say we were sad to leave.

perfect start

having decided to do two sites in one trip for the first time, i was very pleasantly suprised at just what a good base carnon downs was for touring that part of cornwall, being a stones throw from the a39 was a blessing and gave easy access to all routes we needed. the site itself was immaculate and well looked after throughout, the welcome on arrival was fantastic and the owners extremely helpful when it came to arriving early.Toilet block WOW ive never seen anything like it, superb is the best way to describe them, shower, sink and toilet all in the same room for your privacy, spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Showers with power for a change. we never tried any of the takeaways that come to site, however we will not hesitate in recommending the ROYAL OAK pub that will be on maps given toyou on arrival, its a very small pub, the staff were lovely as were the locals we had an exceptionally good meal there along with great drink and atmosphere a must if you are staying at carnon downs. We would not hesitate in recommending carnon downs to anyone.

Excellent site

We have visited this site twice - it is about a 45 minute journey from home so ideal for a quick escape.  We have visited in November and April so have no concept of what it is like at busy times. The facilities are the best we have ever encountered on any campsite with individual cubicles which include loo, basin and shower.  There are plenty of hooks and a bench for your clothes etc and a radiator - great for winter stays.  Some pitches are quieter than others as field yellow backs onto the A39 which seemed to have plenty of bikers testing how fast they could go at all times of day!

easter break

fantastic site , toilet blocks amongst the best ive ever seen. and plenty off them . wardens were superb , plenty of local advice given , you get a local guidebook given to you as you arrive and that alone was informative and clear , mobile chipcart on site and fresh fish van as well , I cant praise this site highly enough , only 1 thing could've made it better and that would've been wifi , I don't class that as essential but im sure the teenagers would . again , a superb site in a superb location for exploring cornwall , we will be back

clean and friendly site

Stayed here for just the one day/night unfortunately - wish it was longer. Large level pitch and very friendly welcome. Lots of handouts of sights to visit and walks. Amazing large dog walking field with water bowls readily available - nice touch. Shower and toilet facilites are excellent and spotlessly clean. Will definitely visit again

Excellent

This must be one of the best sites in the country, very well managed, great layout and spotlessly clean, very friendly management and staff. The site is ideally located for exploring both Truro and Falmouth and everywhere in between, avoid the Carnon inn and try the Norway or the old quay inn at Devoran both dog friendly and great food and drink. Thank you Carnon  downs for another great holiday
