Just back from a 4 night stay here - just wow, beautiful location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Site was lovely and clean, if you are looking to visit snowdonia this is the perfect site for you.
Fantastic
Don’t know where to start but this site was fantastic. Arrived at 7.30pm to friendly happy wardens, told us which pitches were available and which would be best for our twin axle., explained layout/ where facilities were etc on site.
All five wardens were extremely helpful and friendly at all times, never come across a more helpful team.
Facilities were clean and tidy as was the site. Lots of comings and goings with people staying for one or two nights but extremely well managed and a lovely peaceful site.
Walk to the waterfall us a must as is a visit to the Bryan Arms across the road.
It was definitely worth the drive from Cornwall and we’ll definitely be back.

Real gem of a site
Arrived and the staff were really friendly. Chatted for a while and then found a beautiful pitch. Really level.
Went for a meal in the local pub which was really good value and literally across the road from the entrance to the site with a big beer garden and dog-friendly.
Site has access to a circular walk to Trawsfynydd - didn't do it this time but have done it before and it is well worth doing. We walked out from the site and to a waterfall which was beautiful - only saw a handful of people all day.
Facilities were good and clean and the site was really well presented.
We will definitely use again - great if you are coming up from South Wales or down from the North as a stopover or extend you stay for access to the amazing scenery and activities that are in Snowdonia.
Bendigedig!
Very Good Stay
Just spent 4 days at this site. A warm welcome, large level pitch and spotless facilities. WiFi very good. Excellent base to strike out to Snowdonia or the coast. Recommended.
Peaceful Break
Helpful friendly staff from the minute we arrived. Always happy to help and give advise when asked about both the area and camping issues. The facilities were spotlessly clean whenever I went in. There was a small shop with a few basis supplies, including milk and bread. There were plenty of walks from the site and also excellent cycling. Some of the cycling was not for the faint hearted as a lot of the hills were very strenuous. The route around the lake was beautiful however some stretches were very steep, but the views were definitely worth it. The Bryn arms which is a 5 min walk from the site served excellent food. There is a bus stop within 10 min walk from the site with buses to Porthmadog.
We had an excellent stay here and would definitely come to this site again.
Motorhomes on site pitches
Lovely quiet site but Motorhomes need to be able to park centre peg, the 6m rule would still be ok. We pay for the full pitch.
Some cars are hybrid/electric and some run on LPG so the issue is the same, petrol cars are highly flammable also.
Diesel is the safest fuel which most Motorhomes run on.
We also noticed outfits were let on site at 11am on Easter Sunday……….
The above issues are an ongoing problem and need to looked at in depth.
A well kept campsite, perfect for exploring the local area
We visited this site last weekend for a mini break in our camper van. All wardens were really welcoming and friendly. They really went our of their way to help us when we arrived, as we had a problem with out air bed. The toilet facilities are spotless. In terms of location, we were really pleased. As we are not able to use our camper van when pitched up, we needed to rely on public transport or walk. The bus stop was about 5mins walk from the campsite and had regular busses, which allowed us to explore Porthmadog and Portmeirion. Bus services were dog friendly and there was lots of dog friendly cafes and outdoor pubs in Porthmadog too! Unfortunately we were not able to go into the Portmeirion site- it is NOT dog friendly. We were not made aware of this before hand, so just a heads up for any dog owners. We enjoyed walks directly from the site and a meal in the Bryn Arms- it was delicious!
We would defiently return to this site. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Poor Refuse Facilities
CAMC has decided to remove all bins off site apart from those by the main entrance, resulting in a long hike with rubbish across site numerous times during a stay, as we all tend to have small bins. They quote the usual excuses of health & safety, which is ridiculous as there hasn't been a problem for at least the last 20 years.
They keep taking away & not giving back.
I suspect most of the people at higher levels making these kind of decisions are not caravaners / motorhomers.
Another great stay at Coed-Y-Llwyn
We stayed 4 nights from the season opener on 11 March. A friendly welcome from new wardens, and we found the site to be meticulously clean and tidy. Nice pub over the road (Bryn Arms) which is reasonably priced and has been upgraded since our last visit a few years ago... what a great asset so close to site. We walked to the cafe at Trawsfynydd which served a tasty snack lunch. We also enjoyed a walk from Porthmadog to Borth-Y-Gest. Overall a great site to stay on as we have always found it to be. thankyou.
Quiet site, good location, friendly staff - toilet block needs a refresh
We stayed w/c 9th October and found the site to be clean, tidy and the wardens were friendly. The toilet block is a little dated/needs upgrading but that said, the wardens kept it spotlessly clean.
Nice pub over the road (The Bryn Arms) which is reasonably priced and offers a few limited gluten free options if you have a need for a GF diet as my wife does.
Some good walks direct from the site and we also drove to Croesor for a walk (climb/scramble up Cnicht which is the welsh version of the Matterhorn). It's a challenging hike so only do it if you are experienced and reasonably fit.
Overall a good site to stay on, quiet with some good views (once the clouds clear :-) ).
