Good and Bad

We stayed here for a week late September 2017. The site has stunning views over the lagoon but has little else to recommend it. The majority of the pitches slope significantly - and the width of some of the hardstanding pitches is so small that if you use an awning, half of it will be on the grass ! Other 'complaints' would be the lack of lighting at night, only warm water in the shower block, and a very poor WiFi (advertised as covering the whole site). Notwithstanding all of this, the site was quiet and the facilities clean.

Fantastic site.

This is the best site we have visited yet. Stayed here1st July 2017 for 1 week. Friendly helpfull staff. The shop is full of equipment for vans and motorhomes at reallistic prices. The bar at night has some lovely real ales for consumption. The fish and chip van opens 2 nights a week. This is a lovely well set up campsite. We will be back in May 2018 for 2 weeks.

Lovely site!

• Friendly and helpful staff and owners, particularly Jackie (bar manager) who is a top dog whisperer. • Very well kept site: clean and tidy, not too large, with a good array of pitches. • Shower block has family sized rooms with shower, loo and handbasin with hairdryers at the end. Again, all clean and tidy. • Fish and chip van was open during our visit. Great fish. Pizza van also on site. Neither is open all the time which is a plus in our view. • Perfect for dogs with easy access to the Coast Path and foreshore (can be muddy). • Good short walk along to the Old Moonfleet Church which is a special place. • Access road was fine and I am a novice MH driver…… • Playground has creative and well built equipment. There is a field with goalposts and running around space. Great for children. • Skylarks, masses of butterflies, amazing sunsets. • Last but not least – proper Palmer’s beer from Bridport. Go Dorset!

Not the best site

Didn't receive a warm welcome, not very accommodating either. Only one motorhome service point which needs updating. Had to pay £28 for the Friday before may day, could understand it the Friday was a bank holiday too! All taps - shower, sink and dish washing are all push button so took ages to wash the pots. The family room is in the disabled toilet of the pub. Not great to take my one year old through the tables outside where people were smoking. The room was cold and between the ladies and gents toilets in the pub. New shower block wasn't brilliant, you can't regulate the water in the shower and there's only one hand dryer. Loved Weymouth old harbour and Portland, would definitely visit again but wouldn't stay at this site.

Prices gone up, standards gone down

Have stayed at this site may times before but at £28 a night mid Sept to stay in just a field is way overpriced . The Stable field is just a field but for £30 a night you can have a hard standing at the start of the field. Toilet block has large showers, clean but need a good dusting in the out of reach places but the old toilet block in other field was in my opinion unfit for use . Wont use again at these prices will use one of the nearby CL's at £15 a night with just as good views and close to Weymouth

A jewel that needs a polish

A beautiful location of the site that will be hard to beat on the caravan club network. The site its self could be one of the best if someone paid a little attention to detail which you would expect on a club site. Shower water pressure very low, Push button shower activation not always working, Toilets not fixed to the floor properly causing them to rock, Cloths pegs broken and not replaced, Shower block doors held open with mop and bucket, Grass cut and left on path and not swept up, all small things that let down a very good site.

nice addition

Overall this is a very nice site, staff were friendly, amenities clean and in working order. The particular pitch we had (69) was ideal with hardstanding and a bush barrier to our 'social side' of the van. My only negative on the site would have to be the approach/departing road. Too narrow for most of its length for my liking, but unfortunately I don't think anything could or would be done about this. Would I go again.....probably yes but with that narrow lane I would have second thoughts.

Rosie & humans -Family Safe

Rosie and her group of humans visited for a week using this campsite as a base for Weymouth during June. Go to the stables field away from playground for quieter spot. Wide site roads to back onto pitch.  Facilities enclosed cubicles and very clean. Well stocked camping shop and immediate needs such as mil bread.  Many supermarkets near as well as cinema & pool locally. Great base for Weymouth itself as well as cream tea at Portland Bill. Will I bring my humans here again... Most likely ??

Not a 'Caravan Club' site - just different

Prospective visitors to this newly affiliated site should be aware from the outset that this is NOT a 'Caravan Club' site. In fairness, it doesn't claim to be. In parts and at times, it's a little less quiet, a little more raucous and not always so relaxing as a Caravan Club site. That said, if you have children and want an excellent facility for them, with a cracking and popular play area together with attendant noise and activity, then this site will fulfil all of your needs. The STABLE FIELD is away from the play area and much much less noisy; if you haven't got children, then this area is probably better for you. Whilst the site is 'lively' during the day, at night it was all calm and peaceful. Specific pitches can be booked and the site office is happy to advise and reserve accordingly on booking. Having said all of that; there are some stunning views and walks nearby, the site is kept meticulously clean and the modern / excellent facilities are monitored and cleaned on a VERY regular basis. A few more would be nice - queues appeared on more than one occasion during the days. The meet and greet system operated at busy arrival times is a superb and well operated machine and the staff are more than happy to help with any request for assistance. Most pitches are virtually level - cinder blocks were available nearby to aid levelling where necessary. There is a mix of grass and hard standing - most appeared well drained. WiFi connection is expensive and reportedly 'not good', and cell phone reception can only be described as poor; I imagine TV reception would be not of a high standard - these things may not be important to you. OVERALL - it's really hard to fault this site - it's just not for us - and that's our choice. But our choice should not reflect upon the site itself. If it's 'lively' you're looking for, then this site fulfils it and, and more, in spades!

Enjoyed our stay, left unsure.

Me and the family have just returned from an 11 night stay at East fleet, we booked a grass serviced pitch as there were no hardstanding ones left. When we arrived we were booked in and told where our pitch was all this was fine and the staff were friendly, once at the pitch due to a narrow roadway it was a squeeze to reverse on, the serviced pitches are spacious but ours did definitely required levelling blocks as some pitches are not very level. Shop very good if they don't sell it you don't need it, pub on site opens at 6 maybe 4 would be better for families for a relaxing drink after a day out, did not use on site street food vans but they seemed popular as pub does not do food.  Showers for us were very good as they are more like family cubicles with a shower, sink and toilet plus room to dry and change. Overall our stay was enjoyable and in time would maybe return.  Please be aware that the approach road is very tight in places with a blind bend and parked vehicles, also people did arrive before 10:30 so leaving on or before the designated time could become fun and games trying to pass other outfits.
