trying out our caravan

Had a lovely 3 day break trying out our caravan at Farry Meadows at the weekend. All our trials and trivulations of old hand campers with a new (to us) van and awning. All in all a fabulous site with no worries. However, one disappointing factor was the advertisment that you get 10% discount in the cafe in the park, with your Caravan Club Membership Card. The staff in the cafe, refused it, and were pretty rude about it too. We live near to Ferry Meadows and we certainly will not be visiting the cafe again. Shame on them.

A+ Site

Nice weekend stay at Ferry Meadows. Always A+ with loads to do. Shame about the children haters comments in the site comments book. Really if people don't like kids then find an adult only site! Regardless of the clubs "children haters division" this site is great for kids and families and worth a visit as we do every year!

Good Easter

We have stayed here before. Nothing has changed. Very good site. Clean and tidy. Well looked after, friendly wardens. Great for families would come again without doubt.

A good meeting place

My wife, children and I have been using Ferry Meadows since Easter 1980 to meet up with some old friends from Uni. With the exception of four years at other sites, Ferry Meadows has been our meeting place every year. The children are now well grown (the eldest will be 40 this month) and yet we all still meet-up each year. We find that the combination of the Nene Valley Park and Peterborough City makes for a perfect start to the caravanning year.

As we remembered it

We took our grandchildren for Easter after fond memories with our children. Although the site was busy checking in was very well organised and we still like the site and would return. However on 2 occasions we had no electricity once for about 4 hours and no hot water in the shower block which only seemed to happen on our area. This was a pain with young children and wanting to use the awning when they were in bed.I know the site was full and at the start of the season there might be problems but most of us are caravan club members to avoid this.

Just Fab!

My parents had recommended this site to us, so we decided to visit here for the Easter Bank Holiday. Upon arriving at the site we were welcomed by the wardens, they checked us in quickly and provided us with lots of useful info. The site is lovely, spacious and very well kept with lots of little rabbits, squirells and ducks wandering around, my little boy loved it! The facitilies on site are great, there are a couple of kids play areas, the showers were spotless and lovely and warm. The area itself is amazing, there are lots of walks, and cycle ways around the lake, again with a number of play areas for children. During our stay we visited Pigeons Animal Farm, it is a worthwhile trip for families with children, and good value for money too. We would definitely visit this site again, realy enjoyed it :)

Easter break

Wardens were very welcoming the site and facilities spotless again that's thanks to the hard working wardens. Nene park is a beauty to anyone's eyes, nature abounds so can't wait for a chance to returnĀ

Easter 2015

Having spent many a lovely weekend at this site, we took some friends with us this Easter. The site is situated in a lovely area, park nearby and it s facilities. I must say that we were quite disappointed this time on our stay. The electric kept going off, the TV signal was also sporadic and the water was cold in the showers on two occasions. I know the site was pretty full but surely knowing this, why was the boiler not kept on! The warden did not turn it on until many complained. One night, which was quite chilly, the electric went off on one section, not ours though. The people complained and told it would be about 4 to 6 hours before the electric company would be out. He had small children and were cold. We had a spare plug on our post so sorted out extension leads for them and plugged them into out spare plug. Why couldn't the wardens suggest this? We did feel like we were being watched too, they were always riding around on their small tractors, checking we were all in the right place. Some went home early because of the lack of hot water. I do feel with the number of pitches on the site that when full the shower block is not sufficient. Otherwise, the site is very nice.

Good for families and dogs

Visited this site over the Easter weekend, it was full. However, this did not detract from the site at all. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the facilities block beautifully maintained. Because of the layout I noticed very little speeding, which can be an issue on some sites, on the east side. I was surprised at the amount of caravans waiting at 11am on Good Friday when I went to reception on another matter. Our email said earliest arrival time 1pm but handbook says noon, they had to be let in at 11.30; since we couldn't leave until after 5pm on Thursday arrival time was irrelevant on this occasion. To me it seems unfair on the staff to cause an issue with access to the actual country park because of early arrivals. There was lots of movement on each of the days we were there, so obviously very popular. The east side was divided into smaller areas so didn't feel too big. Access into the country park couldn't be easier, great for dog walking, bird watching and children playing plus cycling and walking generally. As our son has just moved to the area I'm sure we'll visit again before too long. Wardens were a credit to the club. Wifi was fine for general emails etc but Saturday evening it wouldn't even bring up the club page (which doesn't need to be paid for) but I eventually got on about 10pm, I did need to use it so persisted. There is free Wifi at the cafe in the country park and the pub on the entrance road, both within a short walking distance of the site.
