Friendly welcome!

I know Forfar well as my daughter & her family live here however I had last stayed at the site approx 3yrs ago. The site and its ambience have been immeasurably improved by the demolition & site remediation of the derelict former sports centre which used to stand proximate to the site! Vicki & Phil are very welcoming and friendly wardens, working hard to keep the site immaculate - this site has the cleanest chemical disposal point I've ever used (& they're always impressive on CMC sites anyway!). Forfar itself offers several walking routes and the site being next door to Forfar Loch is very handy for dog walking. Murton Farm Tearoom & Nature Trail is also good for families/gentle walking. Shopping in Forfar offers the full range of supermarkets including the German discounters; the Community Cafe offers delicious and reasonably priced food. Forfar is very placed to offer fast routes to Dundee (V&A, The Jute Museum) and Perth for those looking for a day out further afield. For serious walkers the area abounds with options not too far away including the odd Munro or two to be bagged.

This caravan park is excellent and ideally located.

Visited this club site from 16 June 2023 t0 23 June 2023 and was very impressed with the site cleanliness with specific attention to the facilities block which was immaculate. The wardens Jackie and Phil do a first class job here in keeping the site to a high standard on a daily basis. The site is also in a great location for going into the town of Forfar and also for tourist attractions in the surrounding area. The only negative comment I have is first impressions when you arrive - the facilities block has badly flaking paint on the roof soffit and really could be in the need of re-painting - as they say first impressions are very important. On saying this I have already booked up for a weeks holiday in 2024. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CLUB CARAVAN PARK.

Just gets better!

We’ve been coming here in our Motorhome for several years and never been let down or disappointed. However in the recent past we have noticed subtle changes that simply help to improve the overall experience of staying at Lochside. There is far more information available about the surrounding area including local eateries, places to visit, take away menus, public transport timetables and useful contact telephone numbers. Booking in is very slick and painless which prevents unnecessary queues and frustration. Books and DVDs are available for those long rainy days and reception has more on offer particularly for our four legged friends. The wardens Jackie and Phil make you feel welcome and they always find time to have a ‘blether’. Phil’s grass cutting skills are a beauty to behold…he should start selling tickets! We were blessed with fantastic weather on this trip which made our short stay all the more enjoyable. One wee negative…..the Wi Fi which I understand is being upgraded. We will be back.

Lovely Site

This is a lovely site and the location is great. It's just a short walk into Forfar where there are lots of eateries and shops. The site has really good facilities that are lovely and clean and warm (maybe a bit too warm for me). The wardens are friendly and helpful. I'll be back later in the year to get out on the loch with my paddle board.

First visit to Lochside

Well.....First visit to Lochside in Forfar and to say we were impressed is an understatement. Beautifully maintained grounds not to mention spotless toilet and shower block. Cleanest by far of any site we've been to in last couple of years. Friendly and very helpful wardens . First outing this year so was very happy to have chosen this site. Easy walking distance to town centre, next to fantastic country park. Lots of good birdwatching and lovely park next to site for children in a very safe environment Not too big a site so not too far from amenities. Will definitely be back.

Long weekend in Forfar

We booked a full service pitch in mid March for a long weekend to explore the area. Few other private or cl sites were available that early in the season or we would have gone somewhere else. The town of Forfar isn’t very interesting to visit but all the main shops are close by to the site. Good base for trips for walking or to the coast we visited Arbroath for the fish and Montrose for the beach. There are new serviced pitches on the parameter fence and these are excellent very spacious. The facilities are very clean even for a CAMC site and the grounds were being manicured daily. Bins emptied several times a day. There is a gate that lets you go directly to the loch side walk which was a bonus with dogs. The loch walk isn’t very interesting. The play area was closed so we couldn’t comment on the reviews noting any noise from that area. As well as visit to Arbroath for some smokies and fish and chips we visited Montrose St Cyrus beach which the dogs loved. I had to score good for families, I don’t know if it is or not

Hidden Gem, fantastic wardens.

We have always wondered what the site at Forfar would be like. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived the new wardens Jackie and Phil made us feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much for this lovely couple. They really want you to enjoy your stay. As it was March the site was quite quiet and there were plenty of pitches to choose from. It really is a breath of fresh air being allowed to choose a vacant pitch of your choice. The site itself is immaculate. Toilets and showers are spotless and best we have seen. Pitches were well kept. I can see why people revisit. A wonderful dog walk is situated around the loch which is just outside the campsite. A secure fence is placed around which has a keypad for entry for campsite guests. The site is in the centre of Forfar. An Aldi, Lidle and Home Bargains are very close by. Not far from the site are a few dog friendly bars/restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay and can’t wait to return.

Above and beyond!

First time out in our Motorhome this year and disaster strikes! Our heating system failed and despite numerous suggestions as to how to remedy the system it remained dead! Given the time of year and the grim weather forecasts we thought the only thing for it was to pack up and head home. We approached the wardens, Phil and Jackie and explained our situation. Right away Phil volunteered to come and have a look to see if he could help resolve the heating issue whilst Jackie was having none of us going home and provided us with an electric heater which was adequate for our needs. As a result we enjoyed our weekend in Forfar. The heating isn’t fixed but that does not detract from the efforts of these kind and caring people. As for the site itself, no complaints whatsoever

Not our best choice

We were shocked by the entrance, right in the middle of the village. Our pitch was spacious, but we had to move the caravan a bit forward. It was black with mosquitoes. Horrible. And the stench from the loch was bad too. Because of the walking path behind the campsite, it was not quiet either. The campsite was run by one couple. The warden didn't tell us anything about the area when I asked. He clearly didn't feel like it anymore, found the work too hard and was happy that next year he will get work at a campsite without sanitary facilities.
