What a brilliant strategic move by the CAMC to acquire this site. It truly is one of the gems of the network. If you want to just recharge your batteries or use it as a base to explore the wonderful Herefordshire countryside, this is it. The site is well maintained and has some of the most helpful and pleasant Site Managers you could wish to find.
There is an on-site dog walk and nearby public footpaths for you to explore. The peacefulness of the site makes it a welcome oasis. The village of Weobly is worth exploring for pubs and a restaurant. Will definitely book another break here.
A peaceful retreat in beautiful Herefordshire
We spent 4 nights at the Moorhampton Club Campsite quite by chance. Ours was a last-minute booking which turned out to be just what we needed.
After a protracted and very wet spring, what we needed was peaceful countryside and a chance to unwind and enjoy our temporary surroundings.
This quaint site built where a railway station once stood, is tastefully arranged and surrounded by beautiful rural countryside.
The showers and toilets are spotlessly clean and there is always plenty of hot water. For us it isn’t important that this facility isn’t totally modern. It serves its purpose well and is efficiently maintained.
We enjoy being outdoors as much as possible and cycling in the surrounding area was really enjoyable, with a variety of villages and several places to refresh with a hot drink and cake! The architecture also is very interesting and carefully preserved. There is also horse-riding in Clyro if you are interested.
It was a joy to see many very tall, old trees which is so rare in our country nowadays. Naturally the bird life and variety is plentiful with bird song frequently greeting us along the way.
The wardens were always pleasant, helpful, informative and hard working.
Weobley (4 miles north) has a very successful Indian restaurant from which we had one of the best curries’ ever! Also, the Salutation Arms provided a very satisfying evening meal from an extensive menu.
All of these things made our first excursion of the year in our touring caravan a real treat, we even had sunshine for a couple of days, though we couldn’t shake off a chilly N/E wind, it didn’t spoil anything!
We will be returning to this site in the future.
Great stay at Moorhampton
Just home after 4 cracking nights at this great little site. I almost don’t want to sing it’s praises as it’ll get booked up like other sites! Yes the site is out of the way but that’s part of its charm. What stood out was how hard the wardens have worked since taking over this year…. The site was pristine and while the toilet block isn’t the newest in the clubs portfolio - it was always spotless. Despite it being full over the Easter weekend the wardens always made time to chat and offer local area info..
We had a really good time on our first outing of the year and will definitely return to Moorhampton soon.

Very peaceful site, but not a warm welcome ...
We were met by a very grumpy warden who said we were late (it was only 4pm) we were booked in to arrive 2 hours ago (we had no knowledge of this) and that she hadn't been able to have her lunch! (hardly our concern I feel!). She also said our van was too long for the grass pitch we had booked (it wasn't), but to avoid any more hostility we went down to the end of the site on a hard standing pitch instead as the site wasn't busy and there was plenty of room. The site does narrow quite a bit down the end, and I imagine if it was full it would feel quite cramped.
The site is very peaceful and quiet with no traffic noise. The facilities were clean and the whole site well cared for.
On the whole a very pleasant site, just a shame about the welcome which did make us feel a little uncomfortable for the rest of our stay.
Over all a good weekend
Stayed here for the weekend. I had a call from the site (well I didn't know for sure that it was as the site phone number isn't in my phone) The lady wanted paying before we arrived I was very hesitant because of the above reason you never know these days. Apparently the club require payment before your stay and if you don't pay by 10.15 the next morning the club cancel the rest of your stay and the site staff can't book it for you. Anyway we arrived at 6.30pm and site office was closed so they pinned an envelope to a board by reception however the warden arrived and uttered a few words and was grumpy to be honest. However when my husband went to pay the next morning the wardens were both chatty and helpful and are going to do their own travelling in there van. When we left he said goodbye to us which you don't get very often. It transpires that the clubs new booking system is such that it is almost impossible to use so you have to phone them up. I booked 3 sites for next year over the phone £75 in advance and wanted to take the rest of the payment the day before, I said no to this and that I would pay the balance on arrival. When my husband was speaking to the warden's the sites are running at 40% because people book several in advance with no intention of going so they now lose £25 but these are the people who aren't bothered about money so the £25 upfront per site doesn't help. All it does is make it more of a struggle for the genuine people like ourselves who can't come because a child is ill but don't have money to waste. The new booking system needs major work it is basically a ferry booking service and has been slightly modified but the club hasn't paid the money to make it bespoke to them so it is constantly getting the wrong dates and if you take too long it cancels everything out of your basket anyway! The club charge horrendous prices for sites these days and rave about how wonderful the new booking system is but it is actually awful. As you've probably gathered I'm not a fan of this new booking system on a few levels. It doesn't work. Site staff phone you up for payment beforehand which isn't how it should work and now the site staff can't book your stay themselves then that causes other issues as they then can't extend your stay. Although there isn't much to this site and the two pubs in walking distance have now closed we would still go back to the site if there was nowhere else to go.

First visit.....won't be the last
Charming small site tucked away in the countryside and perfect for walking and cycling nearby. Weobly was quaint and the church there a stunning example of architecture and the people were really friendly too. Hereford itself a little too bustly for me but Catherdral and surrounding area pleasant. A little gem of a church can be found at Norton Canon and made a great picnic spot after a bike ride as it is secluded with beautiful views and the most amazing trees in the grounds (better than the church to be honest which was plain) which provide shade and boast a magnificent gnarly granular bark, nature's architecture at it's finest!.
The Oakchurch farm shop at Staunton-on-Wye (4 miles from site) is a must visit as the range and choice is amazing, I went in for a look, and came out with a week's shopping so beware because the goods on offer all look (and taste) amazing.
If you fancy a trip across the border then the so called "bookshop capital of the UK" of Hay-on-Wye is about a fifteen mile drive away, my expectations of fairytale cobbled streets and victorian shops sorely disappointed with the reality of commercialism abounding, although the best bit about it for me was finding a small one woman book binding premises on Lion St. with ancient presses on display in the equally ramshacle exterior but she was lovely and came out to chat for a bit and made the day for me.
Kevin and Gail the Wardens were convivial and entertaining and kept the place looking shipshape.

A little gem, would highly recommend
A little gem of a site, brilliant location for touring around the wonderful North Herefordshire countryside. Lots to do in the area.
Lovely, clean site. Peaceful but family friendly too. Will definitely be returning.
Hidden gem
A hidden gem, very relaxing site, good cycling and walking , easy to get to bus routes. The day relief wardens Corin and Darren were excellent and the site is well run which is a credit to the site managers. We will definitely return

Lovely relaxing stay
We had a lovely stay at Moorhampton. Its a very small site. The wardens were very welcoming and friendly throughout. Facilities were good. Bus stop not far from entrance to site. We went to Weobley village which was lovely. Nice dog walk down a farm track to an orchard just off site. Wifi was a hot spot up near reception.
