A peace of heaven

A great site with lots of bays where you can be just where you want to be! If you want to be near the loos it's there, if you want to be near the play facilities it's there! If you want somewhere to walk the dog it's there in abundance away from the site or near the site! Peace and quiet then its around! There are lots of things  to do in North Berwick and a visit to Edinburgh if you want the town. Wildlife can be found around the site and down along the beach, or the John Muir country park near Dunbar gives you space and a chance to recharge the batteries! The wardens were their helpful best!  They even arranged brilliant sunshine for my stay!!

The Surroundings

You get what you would expect with a CC site i.e. tidy pitches, a happy welcome etc. but what I didn't expect was the wildlife.  We were facing the dog toilet field (dog walk area).  There were deer coming in and out of the woods within view of our window.  Lovely coloured birds (They turned out to be Red Starts) and I have never seen so many rabbits.  The local area was also a delight with good pubs and North Berwick where you could park outside the interesting and varied shops. Free parking near shops might catch on. There are miles of beach to walk along with great views. All within easy access.  We only had 2 days but wished we had more time. As a land locked town dweller I was smitten with this site.

`Proper` site!

A `proper` site - quiet, well placed, clean and spacious, but without looking like a car park or just having row upon row of regimented caravans. The numerous pitching areas give a choice for everyone, some hardstanding, some grassed, some pitched sideways. It gives the impression of a smaller site, but one with very generous pitches.  Wardens keep the site clean and tidy, and the facilities spotless, but I`d never call them `friendly`- efficient, yes, and good at their jobs but not welcoming.  The site was full with it being Bank Holiday, but didn`t feel crowded as some do, and the facilities were never overwhelmed. To be honest, my only complaint (as tends to be the norm at CC sites!) wasn`t with the site, wardens or facilities, but some of the people staying on it who let their offspring kick footballs about in the middle of a load of caravans - hitting more than a few when the owners were out. More than a few complaints were made to the wardens (not by me, I may add, as this was in an adjoining pitching area) who eventually put a stop to it. Never having been to this area before we were impressed with the beaches and general facilities in the area, only wished we had taken our bikes! The food at the Castle Inn was excellent and worth a visit, and if you play golf don`t forget to take your bats! One last point - follow the directions given by the CC when towing to the site, my sat-nav took me through the middle of North Berwick (again worth a walk - about 3 miles on the beach) including through a small car park. An interesting alternative, but not one I`d repeat by choice. We`ll definitely return, but with bikes and bats next time.

Comment from The Caravan Club:

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review and we are delighted to read that you enjoyed the site. The wardens work hard to ensure people have the best possible time at Yellowcraig and, as you can see from other reviews, are friendly and welcoming to guests on site. With regards to anyone breaking The Club Site rules, please do come and speak to the wardens as they are always happy to help resolve any issues, as they did in this instance. I hope this information is of help and thank you again for taking the time to write a review.

First adventure

This was our first adventure in our newly purchased motorhome. Lewis and the rest of the team could not have been more helpful and patient. The site has a great location with lovely beach nearby and North Berwick just a few miles along the coast.

Easter school holidays 2015

Just back from a fantastic week long break at Yellowcraigs Caravan Park. Fantastic weather, excellent facilities and location for all age groups. Facilities always kept spotless.   Staff very friendly and knowledgeable.  Small onsite shop where you can order your rolls for next day. Excellent for dog lovers.  Superb beach five minutes walk away.  Just over a mile walk to the Castle Inn Pub where dogs are also welcome.  Lovely walks into North Berwick.  Would highly recommend.

Return to an Old Favourite

Just spent the week before Easter at our favourite CC Site.  Unfortunately the weather was poor, but we did see some interesting things in the surrounding area. Also great to see the new wardens going back to basics and suggesting some sensible rules for children on bikes and scooters. In past years we have witnessed " the Peleton" formed by children on bikes. In case you think we are anti children we take our grandchilren there each year. Lovely new play area much appreciated by our grand daughter. This is an inspirational place for me and as a painter I have used the shoreline and the surrounding area in my work. North Berwick is a lovely little town and well worth a visit.

First visit for 2015

First trip to Yellowcraigs this year. A couple of changes, the kids playground has been completely overhauled and seemed pretty popular. My particular favourite was the new 'woof wash' just the thing when your 4 legged companion decides to jump in a boggy ditch during a walk!! I hope other sites get these. Toilets were spotless , great site , nice wardens , we'll be back soon
