Definitely worth more than just a stop over stay.

A good three and a half hour journey from Calais including a stop. A very rustic French site, well run and located on the banks of the River Ainse with good walks along the river bank directly from the site. A warm friendly welcome on arrival, we were advised there was a large group staying in one area of the site, for the French long bank holiday weekend. They never bothered us all the time we were there. We were allowed to choose our own pitch (52) which was large, unshaded and ideally suited for our requirements. Temperatures whilst we were there never got above 18 degrees. Although we never used them there is a swimming pool and fitness are close to reception. Also small shop and restaurant/ bar which has limited opening hours each evening Only observations was one toilet block (unisex? ladies in gents but my wife never saw any men in the ladies and no loo rolls or hand soap). Always clean, there are only two WC’s in each side, and showers that I would describe as adequate, however, we never had to queue to get one in the mornings, and they were warm. Also small point, hot water for washing up could be described at best as tepid. Ideally located about 2 miles from J14 of the A26 we stayed for three nights and would happily stay longer next time) We Visited Chenin des Dames WW1 battlefields a short distance from the site including along its way Plateau de California and ‘ Cavern de Dragon’ We also ventured into Reims. Croissant’s and bread available from reception (order the previous day) but we chose to go to the local boulangerie less than a ten minute walk from the site. The village of Guigincourt is typically French and has a regional railway station but frequency of trains to Reims made it impractical to use. There is also a Carrefour supermarket which also serves fuel. All in all a great little site, equally good for stopovers or longer stays.

Enjoyed our stopover here! Thank you very much

Warm, friendly welcome, good English spoken. Immediate impression was of lovely, well kept, green, spacious site. You chose your own pitch, all are grass and have electricity, generous space. Plenty of water taps around site. Waste water and chemical toilet have to be taken some distance, near entrance. Good sanitary facilities but water is not hot and be aware toilet roll and hand soap are not provided. Very good for families, covered, heated swimming pool; trampoline, gym equipment and play equipment. We ordered fresh croissants & bread each morning. Most enjoyable and good value. There is a lovely riverside walk through the security gates ( safety for children, security of property) Restaurant that also serves drinks on site but we didn’t use it. Small supermarket and fuel in the village. Also vets for anyone needing it before returning to UK, as we did. Very good. Good stopover. If we were in the area in the future, would happily revisit

Great site for a stopover

We stayed for 2 nights as a stopover. The site was very green and fresh. We had a lovely pitch by the river. The sanitary was unisex and clean but no loo paper or soap. Lovely Boulangerie 2 mins walk. Quiet town. Underwhelmed by Reims.

Great campsite - perfect stopover

This is a great campsite. We spent a fantastic night here. It was a stop over on the way home, and we arrived at 2pm - it was very quiet at that point! We are a family of 5, and appreciated that there was a trampoline and swings in sight of the pitch we had chosen - there is also a play park on the other side too - but we didnt get round to using it. We went for a lovely cycle on the route vert nearby, and then had a swim in the pool. Showers up by the pool were lukewarm at best - hence the cap of 4 stars - we didnt try them out in the main block though. We then had a lovely meal of pizzas and ice cream. Restaurant is only open between 7 and 8pm, but everyone (many guests!) were served efficiently. The cherry on the cake is the lovely warm welcome we had, and the friendly service in the restaurant, who also encouraged our small children's efforts at french. Barrier is coded on entry, so easy to leave with an early start too. Wholly recommended.

Touring France, convenient stop over or for longer

Fantastic small relaxed site, in a perfect location. Carrefour supermarket within 4 minute walk along riverside. Bakers and small bar also in village. Immaculately clean and one of the best remote shower cubicles I have been in, even better than most caravan and motorhome sites. We stayed for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Well kept, peaceful site with nice pool and Small bar/restaurant area.

EASY STOPOVER

We have stayed here many times on our way to Germany/Austria. As has been said, easy access from motorway and always receive a lovely welcome. Pitches are spacious with electric hookup only, but water point not far away. Only gripe is there are not enough toilets, but as we only stay in low season, this has not proved a problem. Just remember to go armed with your own toilet paper - also there is not hand soap available. Petrol and supermarket close by, so all in all an extremely convenient site.

2 great overnight stays

We stayed at this site on both legs of our journey to Switzerland. It is perfectly situated straight off the autoroute, and is an ideal stop over. We received a warm welcome and were able to pick our own pitch. The pitches are flat. There are several play areas and a lovely clean, heated swimming pool which we took full advantage of after a long drive. The bar and cafe area is great, perfect for a pizza, burger and glass of wine. It is also 20 mins away from Reims, which we visited too. We will definitely use this site again for our next European trip next year.

Shame about lack of hot water

This is a lovely site ideal for a stopover being close to the motorway. Stayed here for four nights on our way to Alsace and had a lovely time visiting Reims, Laon and Epernay. The facilities are clean and well kept but the showers are pretty feeble and not all that hot.

We have stayed here twice - Sept 2018 and July 2019...

We have stayed here twice - Sept 2018 and July 2019 - booking in advance - stopping over en route to NE France via Calais and Zeebrugge crossings. Nearby in town there is a boulangerie, a cash machine and a small Carrefour supermarket with 24 hr fuel station. (Don't take your caravan/big motorhome with you if going for fuel - not a lot of turning in/out space - and note it's credit/dedit card only outside shopping hours.) Very handy for Reims or for a day trip by TGV to Paris Gare de l'Est from Champagne-Ardenne station on the southern edge of Reims - 200 mph/40 mins/was just £18 return each booked online in advance! Overall, very happy with this site for the few days each time we've been there. There's a cafe-bar on site in season, and you can order your breakfast pastries/bread at Reception anytime up to the late evening before. Pay-to-use wifi worked fine. 'Kerbs caution' when sharp turning off the main road and through the right-left wiggle into the site entrance - check out on Google Street View if concerned - no big deal really, go slow, IMHO.

Nice stopover near Riems

Nice campsite on the banks of the river, admit 20 minutes from Reins. There was lots of space when we turned up (early evening, in July) As seems normal in France, no toilet paper on the toilets, but at least these ones were segregated. Pool and small spa.
