It rains a lot in the mountains and this site had many grassy pitches in June. Flat, valley site which was virtually empty when we visited. Very peaceful but it does get busy at weekend. Site needed a little more attention but I guess it gets it when more guests arrive. Best feature was free WiFi to all pitches. Very clean toilet blocks. The area is unspoiled and waiting to be discovered. The hills were half like the Yorkshire dales and half like the lower alps. Good for hiking but the site is in a steep valley which means biking is only for the very fit. Visit Le Puy, lovely tourist town and walk up into the giant statue of Mary behind the cathedral for 4 Euros.
A relaxing out of the way site
A good welcome to a peaceful natural site in a stunning valley. It is a little out of the way but yet only 6km to a supermarket (InterMarche) but you do need to get in the car to visit any of the nearby attractions or locations . On site facilities are good and one block is being renovated - the owners are only in their second year. Le Puy en Velay is a really interesting town with easy parking and it’s evening light show is something quite spectacular
The pitch was large, grassed and under shade of pine trees and access is easy. Lots of taps to fill up water etc - grey water waste was a little more distant
The slight hiccup of being charged a balance was swiftly corrected by CAMC. Good on-site bar and small shop with bread etc available by pre order. Be prepared for the natural environment as the local ants and wasps are quite persistent in mid July.
A Peaceful site
Visited this site in early June. On booking in we were told we could pick our pitch. It was probably only a quarter full at most. The site is very peaceful and surrounded by nature. There are a fair few 'safari tents/lodges' on this site - which will may well change the atmosphere during peak times but they are a fair way from the touring area. Pool looked good - though not used. Small bar and eatery. Long hill down to the site will keep your brakes busy, but easy enough access. Closest supermarket is at Carrefour [with service station] on the far side of St Sigolene- about 15-20 mins. Fresh bread/croissants available at reception every morning if ordered the day before. Would definitely visit again despite the manager regularly finding my French amusing!
Beautiful location in the southern Auvergne / Haut Loire
We spent a week at Camping de Vaubarlet in the crossover between May and June and its location is peace & quiet personified. Our welcome by the Vignes family was good as we were invited to select a pitch and to set ourselves up for the week.
The owners are in only their second season of operating the site and work hard at making improvements to the site and providing a good base for the visitor to the area. The facilities are maintained well, although at this time of year the whole site was not yet up and running.
There is some stunning scenery around the area when thinking of the volcanic shapes left many millenia ago! Le Puy-en-Velay is worth making to journey to see with its church and statue on two such rock formations. There is also the Gorges of the Loire and a hidden gem near to the south of Le Puy-en-Velay, a waterfall which drops some 27m from its summit to the rocks and plunge pool beneath at Cascade de la Beaume.
The Loire also has its source in this area ... where it begins its journey to the Bay of Biscay at St Nazaire.
A great place to stay
This is one of the loveliest sites we have visited. Madam Geraldine and her staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The site is set in a clearing in a deep wooded valley with a small stony river running through the middle. There is plenty of space for almost any activity. We could happily have spent more time in the site itself, but it is also a good centre for visiting a less known but beautiful part of France. It is some distance from the nearest village, and both wifi and mobile communications are difficult, but if you want to relax and get away from it all, this is an idela place.

Beautiful Site
Absolutely fabulous site, lovely setting, great facilities, really friendly owners and staff. This site is as good as it gets.
An absolute gem of a site!
We stayed here in July 2017 for 8 days, wished we'd stayed much longer! We were so relaxed we barely left the site, the setting was absolutely stunning in a steep mountain valley (it did get quite chilly at night but not in the evening). We could choose our own pitch which was huge! Not sure whether this is offered all season. The staff were so friendly and helpful the owners are Dutch and French and could not do enough for you, suggesting days out, where to park in Le Puy en Velay, etc. When we arrived we were given a tour of the facilities and an explanation of how the campsite worked, restaurant, rubbish, bread ordering etc. There was a good mix of different nationalities as well as obviously French families.
The facilities were spotless with mixed toilets and showers. The pool bar and restaurant area was very pleasant. The restaurant operates a system where you choose the food, the time you want it and whether you eat at the restaurant or takeaway and order it beforehand. Worked well!
The scenery in the area is just beautiful with breathtaking views from every road we took. Definitely planning to return maybe next year and for longer!
Excellent site
We stayed at the site during Euro 2016, as did many other football fans. You might have expected this to impact on the cleanliness of the facilities or service but it did not, the food in the restaurant was good and drinks fairly priced. The cleaning staff must have worked doubly hard as the toilets and showers were excellent at most times of the day. The site is a little remote though and if weather is unseasonably poor as it was during our visit, it is a long way to the nearest village for a change of scenery. Overall I couldn't recommend this site highly enough.
