Very disappointing

We visited the site in June on our way back from 2 months touring in Europe. What a shock - the pitches were in a terrible state - overgrown and extremely rough. The 'new' facilities suffered from extremely bad drainage in the shower cubicles - whether this was due to badly designed drains or the fact that they were full of 'debris' (or both) difficult to tell but the experience was not good. Did not find the staff on site particularly friendly or helpful. One positive thing to say about the site was the excellent access to Strasbourg - a lovely day out!

Reply from Camping de Strasbourg:

Dear M & M Ontour,

We are very sorry to read your disappointment regarding our pitches during your stay. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain for quite a few days consecutive, which is pretty unusual during this period, and for some of our pitches it made some damages.

We are considering this issue and we are busy by this winter to take care about this issue.

Nevertheless, it’s nice to see you enjoyed the great location from our campsite and could spend a nice day in the city of Strasbourg.

We hope to get the chance to welcome you again.

Best regards.

Disappointing

We stayed here on our way to Switzerland and to visit Strasbourg in June 2017. It is ideally placed for visiting Strasbourg. It seems that at some point quite a lot of money has been spent on the reception area and showers, BUT the pitches are cramped and not well maintained. The situation with fresh water is ridiculous - just by chance we decided to fill up our motorhome when we arrived, to discover that you have to obtain a disc and use the only fresh water machine at the entrance to the site. We searched for water points near the shower blocks but the only thing you could do was fix a hose to a washing up tap and keep pressing the tap to dispense water. Also the site was full, but refused to open the second shower block because it was not "high season" and then the only shower block ran out of hot water for the showers. No refuse points around the site so have to travel to the far side of the site to recycle and get rid of waste. All in all it is not up to Caravan & Motorhome Club standards really.

We are sorry your last stay at campsite “Camping de Strasbourg” didn’t answer your expectations.

This campsite is only opened since 3 years after making a complete renovation. Last June was an exceptional increase for us and we had the chance to be “full” from end of May until end of September. We will of course adapt our staff and number of sanitary blocks which need to be opened during these periods for the next season.

We hope to get the chance to welcome you again.

Best regards.

Disappointing stay

Stayed here for two nights on the way down to Italy, quite disappointed on the whole. Pitches were tight and muddy, hedges were overgrown and unkempt with a rather grotty stream at the far end. Wasn't explained on checking in regarding the fiasco to collect water! Learnt from another camper that you have to ask for a "jeton " or disc for the one and only tap outside the campsite near reception, so had to que for half an hour to obtain a disc(reception always busy and sometimes only one person dealing with every query including check in) would be a nightmare if staying longer and needing to fill waterbarell daily. One toilet block closed after first night, so facilities stretched. Noisy at night not just from fellow campers but occupants of chalets, return trip even noisier. Hen party in chalet behind us and screaming from children in park until early hours! Close to Strasurg but didn't feel comfortable waliking back in the evening. Could not recommend this site for anything more than a quick overnight stay.

Dear Mr Alan Linsdell,

We are sorry to read your last stay at our campsite didn’t  answer your expectations.

We are considering the issue with our organisation around water connections.

Regarding the noise about families with young children in an accommodation nearby the pitch you were staying, we are taking care to keep our campsite quiet after 10.00 pm.

We hope to get the chance to welcome you again.

Best regards.

Nice location

The site is a small  and most pitches are quite tight to access, especially on the left hand side of the reception area. Noise can be heard some nights from the locals outside of the site. Usual water collection area for all pitches (at the front of the site at the motor home waste point) not ideal. Some pitches were very muddy and in my opinion were useable. Excellent walking and cycle routes to Strasbourg

City site

Stayed for a week, site busy but it's that time of the year. Facilities stretched, site was noisy at times and not in the nicest part of town but trade that off with an easy tram/bus trip into Strasbourg. My pitch was fine for a 8.5m motorhome but some were small and bumpy and not as many as stated. Got train to Colmar - worth the effort.

Great for visiting city

Stayed here for 2 nights (9th-11th August 2016). Handy for Strasbourg on foot or bike. The historic town was really pretty and interesting to wander around. Didn't bother to go and look at European Parliament as the people in it are a waste of time and resources. The stream by the site looked extremely unhealthy - isn't there a European regulation on water quality. This is a typical busy city site so don't expect luxury facilities. Pitches are quite small and water and waste points are not clear. Wouldn't want to spend too long here. There's a nice pastry shop just outside the gates.

Well placed for Strasbourg

Site is well placed for a walk, bus ride or tram ride into Strasbourg.  Staff friendly and helpful. Too few toilets/showers when busy. Pitches are tight to manoeuvre into for larger outfits.  Could be doing with grass cut, hedges tidied, etc.  Only water and waste points are outside reception entrance.

Indigo Strasbourg

Just returned from a six night stay here hugely disappointing especially as advertised newly renovated. Arrived given pitch number rather tight to park 7.5m Motorhome then found no water at any pitches. Have to drive back out of barrier to fill up which should have been explained on arrival. The pitches are small and in a very poor state of repair, hardly any hedging between pitches and grass not been cut for quite sometime. Site is well located for a short walk or bus into Starsbourg

Great Holiday

This is a great site, the site team are very helpful. We arrived after they had has 2 weeks of rain, hence the pitches were somewhat muddy. The pitches could do with some improved drainage. Also freshwater for the watercarriers could only be obtained from the laundry area and waste water had to be taken to the motor caravan disposal. The site should consider a dedicated water facility for the caravanners. These points are not in anyway detrimental to the site. The city of Strasbourg is a short walk or tram ride away. Lots to see and do in the region

June 2016 stopover

Had booked this site as a one night stopover on way south with the intention of returning for longer stay on way home if we liked it. We went somewhere else on the way home. It is a great location for a visit into Strasbourg - walking distance - and we enjoyed an evening there. Beautiful old city. Negotiating city traffic with large outfit was ok but not ideal. There had been a lot of rain prior to our visit and the pitches were MUDDY and some extremely so - the site is obviously prone to flooding as there are lots of signs around with instructions about what to do if flood alarm sounds - these include leaving outfit and getting out. That said the facilities are good and staff very pleasant and helpful. So all in all good for a stopover but that's all.
