Great Holiday

Read reviews before we booked - and can honestly say this site did not disappoint! It was all that we wanted and expected it to be! Owners and staff very helpful and pleasant. Very clean amenities and pool. Coulon is a delight - cafes and restaurants to enjoy by the canal, and plenty of routes to explore on our bikes kept the keen cyclists in our family happy. Things to do on the canals - such as punting or kayaking etc also something to enjoy. Picture postcard views along the canals and all about an hours drive from the coast to keep the beach goers happy too! Order your bread and croissants before 7pm to enjoy the following day. Also must not forget the on site restaurant - another delight. All in all a great place to holiday! No doubt we will return.

The Best Holiday ever

Booking this site was very easy through the CC, payment was very quick and easy, don't forget you will have to pay local tax for each day you stay but it is only 50 cents per person per day payable to the site direct on arrival On arrival you are greeted by the very friendly staff who direct you to your pitch (super pitch if you booked through the CC) you will have plenty of room to position your caravan / tent facing which every way you like, the facilities are clean and serviced throughout the day, the swimming pool is heated between May and Sept and is maintained at a very pleasant temperature. there is a small restaurant on site which is open most days Note: order your milk & bread for the next day before 7pm the previous evening

Hidden gem

We have holidayed for many years in France but this is the first time we brought our own caravan - and what a find. The site is a hidden gem in a very peaceful setting. We had 5 stress free nights here and would recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. The facilities were spotless and well maintained. We had a large pitch which had a hedge to separate it from the neighbouring pitches which gave a sense of privacy. Do bring your bikes as the area is flat and you can spend your time cycling around the area. Make sure you hire a canoe/boat and explore the canal network. There is nothing more relaxing than paddling the canals and exploring the area- bring a picnic and a bottle of wine and stop of and just watch the world pass you by. In short a real hidden gem which I recommend for anyone looking a peaceful break.

A fabulous site in a fabulous area

This site is peaceful, very clean and the owners are lovely. The showers are push button, but a very good jet of very hot water more than makes up for that. The site is very well cared for, and the planting ensures plenty of sun and also much needed shade for the hotter days. It is in a wonderful position, and the walk to Coulon along the Sevre takes about 15 minutes and is stunning. Reflections of the trees and beautiful old farmhouses in the slow flowing river are very special. The area is magical, and the best way to see it is to hire a canoe from the campsite and float gently around the canals. Not much effort needed if you want a peaceful, slow journey with lots of time to see the wildlife and really appreciate the unusual landscape. You can also get a guide to punt you around from Coulon or Arcais. Coulon is a pretty little town, and not too busy in the week in May, although more crowded at the weekends, and probably heaving in the Summer. I would recommend a visit to Arcais - very pretty. We had one of the large pitches, which was huge. A very relaxing holiday. The owners know how to run an efficient operation without too many rules and regulations. We will be back.

Beautiful rural France setting

The area is called "Venise Verte" Green Venice, but to us it was more like Holland. Flat with extensive paths alongside the river network, although they were so slowly flowing that they are more like canals. Ideal for cyclists. Coulon and Acais are delightful villages that time seems to have passed by. Even towards the end of September, bars and restaurants were open. Lovely to sit with a drink in the sun next to the river. The site itself is fairly compact and we wish we had opted for a larger pitch before we put the awning up. Plenty of shade. There is a bar and restaurant, but they had just closed for the season. Friendly staff and bread available in the morning to order. All facilities fine. There is a kids play area, but no common "field". Convenient from the A83, easy to find and with good access. We prefer more spacious pitches, but that won't stop us returning because the site is perfectly situated for a particularly stunning part of France. La Rochelle is less than an hour away and is certainly worth a visit.

Delightful site

A delightful family run site with large pitches. The owners were very welcoming. The area was new to us and we would like to return for a longer visit.

Excellent Site

Stayed here for one night en route to Spain. An excellent site in every respect.  It's a family run concern and Monsieur and Madame could not have been more friendly & welcoming. Unfortunately by the time we arrived the restaurant was fully booked. However, the  food looked excellent and when we revisit we will certainly book  the restaurant in advance. Plenty of potential for walking and cycling in flat, scenic countryside.   There is a large Intermarché supermarket within cycling distance. The whole ambience of the site and area was warm and relaxed. Five stars for everything.

We will return!

Excellent Location

Stopped here for an overnight on way south in 2015 and had to return this year 2016 for a longer stay of 4 nights, again on way south. Spacious, shady pitches, some fully serviced on a well laid out, well kept site. The location and surrounding area is stunning. The very pretty village of Coulon is a pleasant 2kms walk along the riverbank. The local area is The Marais Poitevin, full of waterways, rivers and mainly canals (must have more than Holland!), woodlands and delightful villages, all accessible by a huge network of well marked paths for walking or cycling. Bikes (and canoes) may be hired from the site at very reasonable prices. Not to be missed - we should have stayed longer.

Lovely green site in a hot dry summer

Very helpful staff. Very large shady Caravan Club pitches. Restaurant meal well presented, tasty and good value. Wi-fi free but limited range so needed to hover round reception area for best signal.  Cycling and boat hire easily accessible and good fun. Coulon, the nearest village, is lively with a lovely waterfront.  Niort and its Saturday morning market is definitely worth a visit.  More modern and spacious facilities would perhaps improve its high season capacity but overall a lovely site and we were sorry to leave it.
