Excellent site but..........

Beautiful site, excellent toilet/showers. Lovely in the National Park. Lovely owners, staff. Lovely location, for caravan users ( we are motorhomers) and for those who like to walk,, but...... The road to it was a nightmare for us! Very hilly, rocky and dusty for using the bikes.  At least 2 km long and then some more to Alcossebre. The site facilities such as the bar, restaurant, shop and pool were all closed. Daily bread ordered at reception. We had two weeks here with friends who had a car thank goodness! We really enjoyed our 2week stay as we needed a well deserved rest! Would go again though probably not for as long!

Don't despair its worth it when you get there

We stayed for a week in December. The previous review is exactly right and nothing much to add. Large pitches. Bikes are an asset but mountain bikes recommended. Lovely cycling along the seafront of Alcossebre which is about 1 mile away. A real gem in our view.

A Gem.

This is one of those sites that actually IS as good as the description in the bumf. We stayed a couple of nights in late Dec 2015 en route south, and will be staying much longer next time. It's one of those places that you almost want to discourage people from visiting so that it doesn't get spoilt. As previous reviewers have said, the unpaved stoney rutted and uneven track approach will not suit a large majority of Brits, especially if you are a bit precious about your vehicle, but with a bit of care and steady manoeuvring its absolutely manageable, and the reward is a really lovely site with excellent staff on reception, good facilities and about 100 yds walk through the forest to a quiet rocky beach. Ruddy lovely.

Great site but terrible road to get there

We honestly believed we had for the wrong directions approaching the site, but oh when we got there, fantastic. The pitches are a great size no crowding, water and power to hand, fabulous sunrise and sunsets and a view of the sea. Facilities better than excellent. We had a week here and if it was not for the fact we were headed south for more sun we would have stayed. It was warm but 300 miles is warmer still. The local supermarket Consum is as good as Waitress etc. and the local bars offer beer and tapas at what appear to be give away prices. We really chilled out here and we know why so many come for the winter.

Nice Site, Helpful Staff, Good Facilities, But.....

Just returned from Spain including what was meant to be a 7 night stay at Ribamar. As I said in the title of this review, the site, staff and facilities were good, however the 1.5km track to the site was awful, even when not towing a caravan. Yes, I was aware of the track before we booked, but it was worse than I expected. Unfortunately we did have to cut our stay shorter than intended as the unusually high temperatures (35C - 40C), high humidity, lack of a breeze, and being badly bitten by insects made our stay very unpleasant. Would I return - maybe, but probably not.

Great site

Our first trip into Spain with our motorhome and we could have not picked a better site to have stayed on. The staff are just fantastic and can not do enough for you. The free bus into town Monday and Friday is great for doing your shopping. Biking is ok once you are on the roads, a bit tricky on the track with our road bikes but I'm sure there would be no problem with a mountain bike. Good walking in the national park and the climb to to the highest point is well worth it. There was some building work going on, and the staff apologised for the noise, it did not affect us in any way. We are sure that we will return and catch up with some new friends that we have made.

Our Favourite Site

We discovered Ribamar about five years ago and return every year as part of our Spanish winter tour. Yes the access road is dusty and rutted but once you have negotiated this the campsite is a delight. The management team could not be more helpful and friendly and the bus into town twice a week takes care of shopping issues. Alcossebre is a 45 minute walk or a 15 minute bike ride away and has all the facilities that you could want if you don't need a lot of entertainment but I am sure that this should be available in the summer. Remember that this is Spain in the winter. The campsite is quiet except for Spainsh holiday times but we have never found this to be a problem. There is good walking in the hills nearby and good mountain biking although road bikes will struggle with the terrain. We regularly meet likeminded people who return year after year as we do. Altogether a delightful place.

excellent site

we enjoyed our 42 night stay very much, the only critistism we have is that the impression is that the shop, restaurant and swimming pool would be open and they were not.I think it should be made clear they do not open until Easter. Most enjoyable holiday.

Good once you're there!

We stayed at Camping Ribamar for 3 weeks in March 2015. The site is clean and well-presented with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Pitches are gravelled and a good size, but with a significant ledge that thwarted our motormover - huge thanks to everyone that pushed! Apart from a few dogs that weren't hushed, it is very peaceful and has good walking access to interesting rocky beaches and into wooded hills. The walk into town is also pleasant and about 45mins. Driving the last 2k to the site is a bit of a nightmare on the dilapidated track and this does put me off wanting to return there. Driving with the caravan was hairy, especially after a few days of heavy rain! Also, I was unable to cycle the whole track on my folding bike, although others managed fine on mountain bikes. Facilities were ok for low season Spain: good, clean sanitary block with lots of hot water and nice showers; boules and table tennis; a well-stocked library and decent wifi coverage. However, the pool was empty, the restaurant closed and no onsite shop. A minibus does go into town twice a week for morning shopping, but evening eating means home cooking or navigating That Road in the dark!

Ribamar

Access road is a dusty rough track, but completely OK for Car and Caravan, you won't want to do it too often! Agree with all other comments regarding cleanliness, peace and quiet, helpful staff and suitability for dogs and walking. Off season(Xmas to Easter), do not expect the shop or Restaurant to be open. So arrive with provisions for first night.
