Caravan holidays 'the eco-friendly option'

Published: 31 August 2010

People who embark on caravan holidays are doing their bit for the environment, it has been claimed.

Marcus Dubois, editor of CaravanTimes.co.uk, emphasised that for many people, caravanning is a lifestyle choice - and one that takes the environment into account.

"We recently looked at research from Lancaster University, which found an overnight stay by two guests in a touring caravan produces around 4kg of CO2," he explained.

A return flight to Spain, on the other hand, creates around 500kg of CO2, Mr Dubois revealed.

Caravanners not only help the environment on their breaks, but also save money by giving the family a range of holiday options every year.

This year's Caravan Extravaganza is set to take place on September 4th and 5th at the Lawns in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, the National Caravan Council reveals.

It gives enthusiasts from all over the UK their first opportunity to see the new season's models.
