Families in search of a way of keeping themselves busy this half term need look no further than the north-east of England, it has been suggested.
The region has a vast array of tourist attractions which are perfect for a great day out, noted Sheelagh Caygill, spokesperson for Visit Northumberland, and visitors can also extend their holiday by staying at a caravan site.
"I'd say the top visitor attractions are Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, Cragside, Alnwick Garden and Castle, and Hadrian's Wall," she revealed.
People are generally most aware of these locations, the expert said, although the north-east has plenty more to offer beyond the usual tourist destinations.
By picking up information, visitors will soon find the region provides a great range of attractions and events, Ms Caygill added.
On February 10th, a cycling event is being held in Northumberland, which encourages people to take to two wheels and explore the region at night through an organised tour.
