Motorists reminded of car theft risk

Drivers of 4x4s and executive vehicles need to be on the look out, as they are particularly under threat from thieves.
This is according to HPI, which has seen a spate of thefts over recent months, meaning people also need to be vigilant when buying used cars.
HPI Checks should be carried out on vehicles before they are purchased, it emphasised, as this will show any financial discrepancies.
"The age of a vehicle appears to be a big factor in the type of cars stolen, with criminals most commonly targeting vehicles between four and eight years of age," said Daniel Burgess, the company's director of automotive.
He added that small family cars and roadsters are also under threat, which illustrates the need for people to take out car insurance.
HPI recently warned used car buyers of the problem of clocking, which arises when the mileage of a vehicle is altered to increase its resale value.
