More travellers are enjoying 'daycations'

Published: 21 February 2012

First came the 'staycation', as holidaymakers opted to stay in the UK for their vacation instead of going overseas.

Now, there is the 'daycation' - planning a great day out with all the attention to detail that you would lavish on a longer holiday.

There could be a number of reasons for the increasing popularity of the Great British day out.

First and foremost is the economy, as many consumers may be cutting holiday costs as part of their household budgeting.

A day out is even more wallet-friendly than a staycation, and also leaves more time for employees to stay in work.

Furthermore, it is significantly easier to plan a day's worth of activities, making for a far less stressful holiday experience.

There is no need to organise accommodation, book a flight or purchase any international currency.

Plus, there are a number of British destinations that can be enjoyed in just a day.

Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire is particularly suited.

Travellers can visit the sites around Shakespeare's birthplace, feast on a picnic and even take in a show before the evening sets in.
