Keep breathalysers to hand on holidays in France

Caravanners taking holidays in France will soon need to carry
disposable breathalysers in their cars, as new regulations are set
to be enforced this spring.
President Sarkozy made proposals for the mandatory carrying of
breathalysers by motorists at the end of last year, and the
legislation is currently being finalised.
Andrew Kelly, marketing and PR manager for DFDS Seaways English
Channel, explained that motorists need to be aware of any changes
to the law before they reach their destination.
"DFDS Seaways will continue to provide its passengers with the
opportunity to purchase compulsory driving equipment on board, so
that drivers can ensure they are compliant with all French driving
laws," he explained.
Anyone found not to be carrying a disposable breathalyser will
face a €17 (£14) fine, as the country hopes to improve its road
safety record.
The idea is that drivers will be able to check whether they are
above the legal limit before getting behind the wheel.
