Why stay here ...

CL of the Year Award 2023 - Most Unique

Abbotts View Alpacas is a working ECO farm where we breed alpacas. Based in Bucks best kept village; Aston Abbotts. Our Certificated Location is surrounded on three sides by small alpaca paddocks with alpacas and their cria (baby alpacas) gently grazing. Due to their very inquisitive nature you will no doubt have them watching you and they are particularly fond of laughing at people's reversing techniques!

Direct access to cycling routes and several footpaths and circular routes all with a point of interest midway (map provided). Nearest pub (The Unicorn in neighbouring Cublington) is 1 mile walk from our private style providing direct access to the footpath.

Power: The farm is 100% powered by solar and wind energy and we do not charge for electricity! Our hook ups are a full 16 Amps. So household kettles, toasters, hair dryers, televisions, etc can all be used as normal. However, all our power is stored in a huge battery bank to get us through the night (or dark days) which means we can not provide power for heating or cooking. So heating and cooking must use gas.

We really appreciate it if you support our green credentials by, wherever possible, using gas instead of electricity. e.g. for heating, hot water, fridge. This enables us to not charge for electricity or install meters.

Chemicals: Being an ECO site we have a strict chemical policy where we can not dispose of anything antibacterial or hash chemicals. This includes your usual blue toilet additive and pink rinse and surprisingly many 'green additives' which it turns out are not so green. The only additives we accept that are truly eco friendly are Blue Bio Clear and Sol Bio. Both are available to purchase on site at a discounted rate. For stays under 2 nights we will also accept Elsan Organic, Fenwicks top n tail, One chem pro biotic and Blue Diamond.

If you usually use a different product, please empty and rinse your chemical loo before arriving as we cannot dispose of chemicals on site.

The site is flat and laid to lawn.

Adult only, no pets due to the stress is can cause to the alpacas.

Second Time - Just as Good

Abbotts View Alpacas
This was our 2nd stay at this site and it was just as good as the first. We even got to try out the stile that was erected shortly after our last visit. We love the sustainable ethos of this site as well its location and great owners. So much to do in the area and James keeps the site Facebook page regularly updated with events happening locally. We cycled straight from the site, as well as around Aylesbury/Waddesdon Greenway, and went a bit further afield to Milton Keynes (check out the get around MK website for lots of routes and other useful information). The alpaca's were just as much fun to watch and this time we also had the entrainment of ducks roaming free (they were being kept in due to bird flu on our last trip). Thank you James and Jo for continuing to run this brilliant site, if we were closer it would be our "go to site".

1st Time

Abbotts View Alpacas
We have recently purchased our first camper van and this was our first time out. We couldn’t have asked for a more friendly and helpful welcome. Lovely peaceful site with views of the alpacas in the adjoining pastures. They are very relaxing to watch sitting outside the van with a drink. If all sites and owners are like this, then we have definitely chosen the right thing to do. Maybe not pack so much in the van that we end up not using. It’s a learning curve I guess, didn’t realise how compact VW T4 Holdsworth conversion is. James and family thank you very much for help and friendly nature we hope to be back soon. Thanks Rick & Sharon

Peace and tranquility

Abbotts View Alpacas
When we arrived we received a warm and friendly welcome from James along with comprehensive information sheets. We stayed for two weeks which flew by, much to our regret..... However when it came time to leave we found we had a problem with the vans 12 pin plug connecting to the car which to cut a long story short James fixed by rewiring it for which we are eternally grateful. To finish we had a great time and look forward to visiting again in the not too distant future. Graham and Jill

Peaceful few days in beautiful surroundings

Abbotts View Alpacas
We have just arrived home after spending a few days at Abbotts View. It is a peaceful oasis in beautiful surroundings. The welcome from James was warm, inviting and very informative. It was great being kept up to date with various events that were happening in the local area by him. Loved that this is an eco farm, from the solar panels for all the electric, to harvesting rain water for the loos…..which were both exceptionally clean, and the toilet twinning…. If you don’t know what that it is, it gives people their dignity and a better life for all. The whole site is wonderful. We were fortunate to be pitched by the fence overlooking the paddocks and our ‘ neighbours ‘ were an assortment of the most beautiful alpacas and the ducks who came to say hello! It was de-stressing just taking time to sit and watch the red kites, the kestrels and in the evening the bats. Definitely will go again and thoroughly recommend this site.

A Little Gem

Abbotts View Alpacas
Abbots View CL is a hidden gem. Easy to get to but very peaceful, there was a warm welcome awaiting us. James was very helpful, and a great ambassador for the surrounding area, with a good knowledge of what events were happening locally during our stay. The site is level and well draining, and the 5 pitches are well spaced. The toilets were a welcome facility, and were kept spotless. We also loved the eco credentials of this site; rainwater to flush the toilets and water heated by the sun, which also supplied the electricity. One to return to!
