Excellent value

Balmers

Booked site via phone a couple of weeks before. Turned up to this lovely flattish site, surrounded by fields and horse paddocks. The friendly owner turned up a few minutes after our arrival, told us about the footpath from the campsite to the public footpath. A little distant road noise from the A41, but it didn't keep us awake even though we had our windows open. We're with O2 and had very good 4g. Very good value, well maintained and would certainly visit again as I have relations in Tring.

This beautiful CL is lovingly maintained by the very friendly and knowledgeable owner, who took the time to explain all the local interesting walks to be found right from the site, including the ridgeway path,Tring park and a walk into Tring itself where we visited the natural history museum. The village of Wiggington is picturesque with a great pub (The greyhound) and a lovely community shop which served coffee and cake ! The site is secluded along a well maintained driveway and has all you need for a peaceful and very enjoyable stay. We will definitely return.

Great off grid site

We chose this site due to its close proximity to RAF Halton so would’ve stayed whether it had EHU or not. We were so pleased when we turned up, we did miss the entrance gate but could easily turn round in an 8m motorhome. The site is in a lovely green field down an access road but there wouldn’t be much traffic noise anyway. The field is well kept & a good size for a CL with so many walks directly from the site. The owner is very friendly & knowledgable about the local area & visited the site every day. The local pub was just 5 minutes walk and we enjoyed a lovely meal there. We only stayed 2 nights but will definitely return. Great value for money at only £7 a night.

Lovely site

Balmers
Stayed in late August 2019. Site entrance easy to miss, gate in hedge. I hadn't been able to locate the site on google maps, probably as its down a green lane, which google doesn't recognise, I've since added it to google to help fellow travellers. Green field site with a lot of space, but people all head to the sunny side of the field. lots of blackberries in the hedgerow whilst we were there. There is access to the Ridgeway path by following the track to the right of the horse field, lovely views and open countryside. Via the small park opposite Balmers entrance you can get to the pub, an amazing play park or village community shop by going straight on. If you follow the path to the right and head past the school you come into Tring Park, there's a great scenic walk over to Tring (about 20 minutes), there are steep sections and a spiral stepped motorway bridge. Once on the other side there is the Natural History overflow museum, entry is free and our granddaughter loved it. At Great Missenden 10 miles away is the Roadl Dahl Museum and Story Centre another great day out. 30 minutes away is Warner Brothers Harry Potter tour, this must be pre booked, especially during school holidays.
