A bit of care needed

Lowood
I was touring the area so only stayed one night at this site. The large camping field is slightly sloped but the 2 electric points are along the fence at the bottom of the field. Therefore those who want hook up have to congregate in that area. The water point is in one corner & not well signposted. A kindly lady from a caravan that was already pitched, showed me where the bins, cdp & loo were. As they were not immediately adjacent to the field, through a tunnel in a hedge & not signed in anyway, I don't think I would have found them very easily on my own. The toilet was uncared for, so I suggest keeping to your own facilities.

OK but ......

This is a nice site with potential. It's peaceful enough and located centrally for some interesting places. For me it needs more water points. I had to walk quite a distance to the 1 point for water. The chemical disposal and waste bins are even further away. The main house is let it seems so be aware there can be some late night noise from partying there. Neal is the chap who looks after the site as the owner lives in London it seems. I found Neal to be friendly and helpful. A bit of blue pipe, some more taps and it would be better. Not a site for when it rains heavy though.

Second review

Lowood
This is my second review of this site, the first time I said we would return...and we did!! We had been e-mailed by the owner saying the site was wet after recent rain, but with 4WD we should be ok. As it happens the site was fine, the rain stopped and the field dried out during our stay. We were on our own (again....maybe it's me?) for most of the time. The site manager greeted us on arrival and was helpful and friendly, we didn't see him again until the morning of our departure. The last time I said there wasn't a safe walk to the all-day pub (The White Horse), but we managed to find one....turn left out of the site, first left in the village and a couple more left turns and it will take about 20 mins along a very quiet road. Plenty of walks, easy access to Exmoor and the coast, nice quiet site, what more could you want?

Wet field!!

Lowood
Site only had gravelled entrance through field gate. Stopped 10 meters into field to check ground as hookup was lower part of site only to see van sinking into ground. Had to phone owner who kindly organised a farmer to pull us out the field with his tractor. Can’t pass any comment of facilities as we could not stay.
