Just what we wanted.

Have just returned home after a week at Firbank Park, site is a fantastic addition to the CL group. Justine and Archie are genuine and friendly and have taken some time to plan and develop the site. They have gone to the expense of supplying water points and metered electric units to each pitch which is very useful to keep track of your usage in these times. A lovely clean toilet and easy emptying of chemical toilet and grey waste. Justine and Archie helped us find some very nice cycle routes with local information about them. A lovely cycleway runs from Ballater and Aboyne so no need to use the car if you are fit and able, We cycled every day on our tandem as the roads and lanes are fantastic and very quiet with a selection of on and off road routes. The weather was fantastic which they claim was down to them also. Will certainly return and we wish them well.

Never stayed at better CL

The best CL we have stayed at during our 7 years of using CLs. Stunning location, beautiful field, huge pitches and made to feel very welcome by Justine. We stayed nearly 2 weeks, went to explore somewhere else and came back for a further week - it felt like coming home. Fabulous walks from the site - a favourite was the climb up through the woods to Glen Tanar Estate and the Fairy Lochen walk. We wish we'd booked longer. Everything was immaculate, lovely finishing touches like a communal tool box in the pristine toilet, and the amazing weather helped! Loved the area and the site. Hope to be back next year, Justine!

Friendly Welcome

A lovely spacious flat CL with EHU /Water at each pitch, an added touch of a great well kept toilet and wash basin. Justine and Archie were welcoming and they are working to make sure everything is perfect for guests staying (with very little or no TV signal Wi-Fi would be useful). Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the CL and would definitely return if in the area.

One of the best

This campsite has instantly become one of our favorites. With acres of space and beautiful scenery all around we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the many walks straight from the campsite. Hosts Justine and Archie were super friendly and helpful. All the on-site services are to a high standard as you would expect on a certified site. The website descriptions of site and facilities are spot on so read them before you book and you'll know what your going to. We'll be back, our dog insists on it!!

Excellent Site

The pitches are very well spaced out within an expansive field. There is direct access to local walks and a cycle track to local towns. The owners are friendly and helpful, the facilities clean and the grounds well-tended. It's a quiet, peaceful site with easy access for vehicles of all sizes. Points to note: it's a long walk to the loo and to the bins and there is an additional charge for electricity beyond 10 units (10 kWh) per day. All in all this is an excellent CL in an area where there are not that many of them.

Perfect!

This site exemplifies all the reasons why we like to stay on CLs and we have never stayed on one better than this. The site is perfectly set up with EHUs and water taps for each pitch; pitches are widely spaced and the site is a huge space adjacent to lovely woods where there are great walks. There is a cute and spotless toilet for guests to use. Justine and Archie, the owners, are welcoming, friendly and helpful (for example, our dog was taken ill when we were there and they helped us find a vet and checked how things were going). The site is also located in a lovely area of Deeside where there is lots to see and do. We stayed for 5 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We will certainly return.

Ssssssshhhhhhh , dont tell anyone ……

First visit to Firbank & it won’t be our last. What a beautiful spacious site in an amazing setting. There’s plenty to visit , see and do if that’s what you want. Acres of space in a huge meadow, a wonderful oak wood nearby plus the River Dee on its doorstep. Justine was so warm and welcoming. The amenities are spotless. If you’re looking for peace, tranquility and a feeling of being at one with nature then this is the place to be. We saw Roe deer grazing nearby and as we were setting up a Red Kite flew over the van. I can’t recommend Firbank highly enough. A ver special CL x

Cracking CL Site

We initially booked for 8 nights at Firbank Park, but ended up staying an additional night showing testament to the great CL site and surrounding area. We received a very warm welcome from Justine who was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us advice on walks and places to visit. The pitches are very spacious and there is lots of additional area to walk dogs if required. We were unable to get any TV signal, but the mobile signal was excellent on both O2 and EE so we watched TV via an IPad and Firestick. There are lots of walks in the surrounding area of various distances including walks direct from the CL. The information board was very helpful with details of these walks including QR codes to upload them direct to your phone. The pitches are metered with the first 10 units included with your pitch fee, and we never went over our allowance as we didn't require our heating on but used our Alde hot water, kettle, microwave etc. There are lots of birds to see on site including woodpecker, birds of prey and we saw deer almost every day from our caravan. A small B road runs alongside the site and there was some noise on weekday daytime from logging timber trucks but evening, night time and weekends there is no noise and the site is very peaceful. We visited Balmoral castle, Crathes castle, Ballater, Glen Tanar, Muir of Dinnet and Deeside Way. Ballater has some lovely shops including a great butchers, bakery and ice cream shop. This was our first visit to this area, and it will not be our last and we would definitely stay at Firbank Park when we visit again.

A perfect spot for the Coronation

Had a lovely time at Firbank where we stayed for 11 nights and didn't run out of things to do. We loved the space between pitches and convenience of the woods behind for walking the dogs. Great location for visiting all the Cairglngorms have to offer. Even though only pitches are hardstanding the drive over the grass is on firm ground so no big ruts to get stuck in. Lovely clean little toilet hut and lack of a shower not an issue for us as we use our caravan shower and each pitch has a tap. 10 units per night included and we only went a little over that (it was a chilly Apr/May and we had heating on). Very quiet especially at although some occasional logging trucks pass in the daytime on weekdays but not a noise problem. We spotted red squirrels and deer from our caravan window and heard a cuckoo. The pub up the road in Aboyne did good food and accommodated us and our 3 dogs inside in the bar. Beaches in Aberdeenshire within an hour (Balmedie and St Cyrus were great), we did Braemar (home of the Highland Games) and did a lovely circular walk (the Queens Drive). Glen Tanar was beautiful and worth the car parking fee of £5 to visit Glen Muick (never seen so many red deer so close up and the scenery was staggering). Ballater was very pretty for a walk around. The circular walk around Loch Kinord was a nice one. We drove the snow road up to Tomintoul one day great for a scenic drive and lots of stopping points along the way to stretch the dog legs. We didn't brave swimming in the river but it's just across the road so you could. We visited Balmoral on on Coronation day which we'll always remember and managed to buy some limited edition whisky. The Walk Highland app which is free was excellent for finding walks to do. Coop supermarkets nearby enough for our needs, great butchers in Ballater and The Highlander bakehouse was great (fab hot dogs and scones) if not the cheapest. So much to do within easy reach we could have stayed longer but needed to move to do laundry

Great site, one of the best CLs

We stayed at Firbank from 1st May for 3 nights. What a great site, one of the best, easy check in via barrier, each pitch has water and electric and very well spaced out, there's loads of room, biggest CL we've stayed at by far. Great welcome from Justine who was very helpful. Quiet site with the bonus of the toilet on site, as well as information point. There are plenty of walks from the CL, first day we walked over to Glen Tanar, where there are waymarked routes. We cycled both full days, the Deeside way passes through Dinnet, which is 0.5 mile down a quiet road. Easy flat cycle to Ballater, we chose to cycle onto Lock Muick, plenty of other routes available. We'll definitely be back, its a new site and extremely well managed by Justine and Archie. And we spotted a red squirrel on site on our last Morning !
