A golden gem

We staid here for two glorious weeks in may, in 20+ years of caravaning we have never been made feel more welcome. Brian and Alison were more than happy to share there knowledge of the area, and they were happy to help try and solve any difficulties or point you in the right direction. Access to the site was easy and well signed with accurate directions in the book, getting onto the site was nice and easy even with our large twin wheel caravan and tow car which is a large pick up. Each pitch was hard standing for car and van with a lawned area for you awning, the pitches were nicely spread out. Each pitch had its own mains water supply and grey waste disposal. The chemical waste was neatly hidden behind a hedge and well maintained. There was a hut on site with local information about places to go as well as info on local walks.. The site is ideally situated for exploring the area, with it just being out side Much Wenlock, it's not far from Iron Bridge, which is well worth a visit with some fab museums. The surrounding area boasts lots of nation trust and English heritage sites to visit. The site was immaculate with a lovely view over the disused railway bridge and Brian and Alison’s garden which is spectacular. We spent some lazy afternoons enjoying the quiet only disturbed by the bird song. It's a site that we will be visiting again and have no reservations about recommending.

We loved it so much we bought it!

We stayed at Firs Cottage in October 2016 when it was for sale. We loved the site and surrounding area so much that we bought it and moved in in April. I am cheekily posting this review as some of our guests say they have had problems leaving their reviews so thought I would see if this went on. Some of the old reviews mention that it was tight getting in and out of the site. We have now entirely removed the first set of gates and posts so there is no longer a problem getting large caravans on and off. We hope to see you soon.

Lazy days in Shropshire

Some care needed to enter through gate - depending on the size of your unit. The lazy above refers to the fact that you have your own water tap so just attach your hose and away you go - the same would go for waste if you have a hose because the grey waste can go into the surrounding hedgerows. Beautifully sheltered by trees and well laid out site with hardstandings and a central lawn area. Lane to the rear of the site is a superb dog walk - the view from the top of the hill is worth the walk, views across the old quarry & Shropshire hills. Mr & Mrs Ball were very helpful and welcoming but not at all intrusive. We ate at the Talbot Inn which was very good value for money - typical pub grub and not gourmet dining. The butchers is to die for and the bakery great too. Lovely to be somewhere with a good selection of shops nearby with everything you need for your holiday and of course the attractions surrounding Much Wenlock are brilliant too and all worth visiting. Our test of the CL, would we return the answer would be yes.

Perfect Site!

This must have been our third if not forth visit to this site. Very, very peaceful except for the morning chorus from all the bird life around the site. Always great to see the hosts who go out of their way to return leads that someone might have left on leaving the site!! Thank you so much.

Excellent Site

Firs Cottage is an excellent site. Easy to find, access is good onto what is a beautiful and very well managed site. The owners are particularly helpful and the market town of Much Wenlock, which is steeped in history, is about 10 minutes drive away. The George and Dragon pub is recommended. Impressive that each pitch, all hardstanding, offers its own fresh water tap and nearby grey waste. 10/10 score from 2 very satisfied caravanners.

Lovely Site

Just returned from a lovely weeks break at this CL. Owners are very hospitable and the site is maticulously maintained. As previous post said the builders were in next door but this did not distract from our enjoyment in any way. The site is lovely and quiet with a water tap and waste disposal to your pitch. What more could you ask for. Our dog was poorly while away. We took her to Severn Edge vets in Much  Wenlock who were fantastic and highly recommended if needed.

EXCELLENT

Just returned from our 2nd stay at this perfect CL. Hosts very friendly & obliging, site well set out and well kept. Individual tap to each pitch an added welcome bonus. Very private location - not overlooked but easily accessible to main road & routes for sight seeing. On this occasion, neighbour had builders in but this did not cause us a problem, but when they had finished, could only hear silence or birds - so peaceful! Excellent break. Cannot thank owners enough for such an ideal relaxing stay.

A perfect CL

We were lucky enough to have the CL to ourselves for a weekend break in February. A lovely warm welcome with walking maps and fresh eggs supplied within half an hour of arrival. This is a perfect little CL which is ideal for all year round use due to being all hard standing pitches. What a bonus having a water tap on each pitch and a grey waste between each two pitches. Makes the chores much easier. We walked form the site along footpaths into Much Wenlock and just had to visit the much praised butcher. After a coffee we walked back along the Shropshire Way to take in the views along the edge and then a short walk back along the road to the CL. Our Sunday morning walk took us in the other direction from the site over the fields for views across to the Clee Hills. a perfect weekend getaway and definitely a site to return to another time. Thanks very much to the owners for creating and maintaining such a wonderful little site.

Last Minute Weekend Getaway.

What a hidden gem! I booked at the last minute on Thursday and arrived Friday evening following instructions over the phone. Each pitch has its own water and electricity supply and all are hard standing. The site is very well manicured, although grassed areas were very soft even underfoot but after all the storms we have had, who is surprised? Mr and Mrs Ball made us feel very welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble. The site is surrounded by tall trees and provides really good shelter from wind. It is only 40 minutes from home so we will be definitely going again in the not too distant future. A really big thank you.

Lovely site

Popped in on 23rd Jan 2016 in our camper - after a couple of local CL failures (very waterlogged grass - which is to be expected!).  Called in unannounced, met Stuart....paid up - what a gem of a site.  Only stopped one night but it's a caravan club site in miniature.  Perfectly formed... with no toilet block (we've all got them on board, right?).  We'll be back in the summer for sure!
