Above and Beyond............

Our second visit to this superb CL.

A wonderfully quiet site in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire countryside, yet only about a mile or so from Much Wenlock, a really nice small market town - don't miss Ryan's Butchers in the High Street for the best selection of pies and other delicious food at very low prices.  The Fox Inn is great for meals too.

Sue and Stuart are the most welcoming hosts you could ever find.  Nothing is too much trouble and the site is immaculately maintained - all pitches are hard standing and have direct water and waste connected.

We had a serious problem with our Bailey caravan (new a year ago) when the water pump leaked and soaked all our bedding - everything, including quilts and pillows, soaked right through.

Bailey and our supplying dealer were uncontactable by phone over several hours and the Bailey dealer in the area would only deal with warranty work for their own customers, although they did help in the end by allowing us to swap the pump for a new one if we took the old one in and fitted it ourselves. Buyer beware and sparks will fly as this is the second such incident since buying new - battery charger failed in May with similar hopeless "support" under the Bailey warranty.

However, Sue took charge of the bedding, dried everything in her tumble dryer and both her and Stuart made their 'phone freely available all morning while we tried to find a dealer able to help - no signal for BT mobile on site unfortunately although other services can be picked up.

In the end we cut short our holiday and returned home as the brand new replacement pump we obtained and fitted leaked as soon as the water was switched on.  Sue and Stuart really could not have done more to help us and gave up hours of their time.

Shropshire is England's best-kept secret and well worth a visit.  If you like walking the nearby Wenlock Edge is lovely - turn left or right out of the site and within a mile or so there are free car parks on the opposite side of the road and you just follow the marked trails.  Watch for buzzards overhead and Peregrines in the quarry.

Ludlow, Church Stretton, Bridgenorth (a working water mill and steam railway well worth a look), Ironbridge, Oswestry and Chester are all charming places to visit and you would need several trips to see them all.

You honestly will never find a better CL or kinder more caring owners.  Will definitely return.

Ideal CL

Yet another marvellous stay at this peaceful and well located site. Sue and Stuart are so friendly and helpful, and Stuart keeps the site in immaculate condition. Each of the pitches is hardstanding with its own water and electricity, and if you have a sufficiently long waste hose there are also grey waste drains spread around. I know we should really support the nearby club site, (and we do use them regularly), but as it does not have hard standing and serviced pitches then sadly they cannot compete with Firs Cottage.

Birthday break!

We wanted to return to RAF Cosford and chose Firs Cottage for its proximity to the base. Very easy to find, we found the access tight [we are in our second year caravanning and possibly not too experienced] we drove in fine, but had some problems getting out! Site is so peaceful, each pitch has its own water tap so really useful when showering! Dog walking is not in the field behind the site as we thought, but down the lane adjacent to the site. Lovely site and lovely area, we will return.

The Best Kept Secret So Don't Go Telling Anyone!

Yet again Stuart and Sue greet and meet you like long lost cousins. They do not leave a weed growing in the garden anywhere and the bird life is second to none. At night it is so quiet (except for my husband’s snoring ofcourse) that you are only awoken by the odd hoot of an owl. Our mobile phone had a very strong signal and all our water hoses were well within reach of the facilities.

Why visit these large campsites when you have peace and tranquillity at the unique Firs Cottage campsite?

Practically Perfect in Every Way!

We have been using campsites for many years but this one hits the mark on everything you need. The Owners are really enthusiastic and so helpful. The grounds are well kept and clean. It is quiet with lots of bird life to watch at the same time. We even had shooting stars appear on clear nights at the beginning of this month. ( August) I just do not know how they organised that! The Much Wenlock area has so much to see and do. Why go anywhere else. The other people we met at the campsite were all returning visitors which we will be doing quite soon. The only criticism is that Stuart forgot to tell my husband that you have to be quiet after 10pm and that includes snoring!

The best CL we have stayed at

as soon as you arrive you realise that you have found somewhere special. The site is immaculately maintained with electric, mains water and waste to each pitch, although you may well need a long waste hose on some of them. There are lovely views accross open countryside and there are some interesting walks nearby, especially in Much Wenlock. Within half an hours drive you can also be in Ironbridge, Bridgnorth or Shrewsbury for those days when it is not dry. The highlight however is that Sue and Stuart are so friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We have been twice this year and hope to return later in the year.

Owners very helpful, friendly and generous. Site is immaculate, as are the surroundings. Nice walk over the hills from the site, and stunning views from Wenlock Edge close by.

One of the best!

An excellent CL, excellently laid out and maintained to a very high standard. The owners had worked very hard to clear the snow off the pitches. This is a wonderful little site and we shall certainly be returning.

Great hellp in the snow!

I agree with all of the comments listed but I would like to add that Sue & Stu are also great when things do not go quite to plan, we had 12" of snow during our stay but Stu did the rounds every morning cheking on us & then thawing out the water supply when necessary & Sue even insisted we use their house phone to let our daughter know that we were OK as there is no mobile phone signal on site. Stu then eventually towed our van off the field with his tractor as the snow was too deep for my car nothing seemed to be too much trouble for either of them. Thankyou both for making our stay enjoyable in less than ideal circumstances. We would love to revisit you again (but in the summer next time)

Good location

Well located CL with six well spaced hard standings on gently sloping ground. A central well kept grassy area sets the pitches apart. Good black water disposal, and fresh water points and grey water disposal drains run behind most pitches. The turn into the entrance is tight but ok for large outfits. A good location on Wenlock Edge and convenient for Ironbridge and its museums and The Long Mynd.
