Repeat visit

Returning visit to this CL in midsummer warmth and long daylight evenings. Access into the site is very straightforward, with pitching clustered around the hook-up points, using only part of the field. Services are grouped - rubbish, mains water and toilet disposal - easy and clean to use. Can't comment on the electricity surcharge mentioned elsewhere as our useage in mid summer was minimal. It is a meadow, so don't expect "billiard- smooth" short grass, more it's what is practical in mid summer so the grass still looks like grass - early morning dew can mean it's handy to have suitable footwear to hand first thing. Pitching is level, with the odd undulation. It's a well drained site ! TV and internet reception seemed fine during our stay. Free range eggs are made available free-issue, so long as the chickens are laying ................ The environment is serene and peaceful. The extended field is planted with tree saplings with a perimeter path to explore and/or access the wider footpath network, all of which are well signposted and maintained. This makes for a naturally dog-friendly site. In terms of local amenity, shops are clustered across the road (including a Chinese takeaway), with a pub/restaurant a few doors down. Walking is possible in several directions, with a downhill lane/footpath stroll at proximity to the pub at Pin Mill with its spectacular estuary views (though the return is uphill !). Estuary views are also good from Shotley at the end of the peninsula, a few minutes drive away. The owners continue to be helpful - but without intruding. This site is difficult to fault !
