Private and secluded by a lovely lake

This was my first trip to the lake district and my partner said this site would be a great base for us. In his words its not as 'commercialised' as the Windermere area of the Lakes. We stayed 7 nights in total in a little cul-de-sac on the site with 3 other units by us, very private and a nice level pitch. You do get alot of pine cones dropping down on the roof of the van off the pine trees, wasnt sure if was the wind or the red squirrels holding some kind of protest and throwing them at us :0)? We arent the most experienced at towing a caravan and like many other reviews for this site the approach isnt for the feint hearted at times, but is doable just take your time. We drove down Borrowdale Road at 2pm on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon with our caravan on arrival and there was alot of people parked up on the edge of the road visiting the lake. Drive slowly, keep a very careful eye out on the hedges as most have concealed walls in them and you can get down. Once onsite it was lovely, peaceful, a short walk to the lake, great little shop. Well worth a visit and would happily go again.
