Friendly and helpful staff

We arrived at the camp site on Wednesday, found an appropriate pitch and started setting up the caravan and various utilities i.e. electricity, gas & water. However after filling the aqua roll we found to our dismay that the water pump had decided not to work. To our surprise and delight one of the staff on site kindly said that he had a spare water pump, the same make as ours, and that we could borrow it for the duration of our stay. This act of kindness meant that we could enjoy our break as planned and avoid the need to go out searching for a replacement. A new pump has subsequently been ordered on our return home. This is the second time we have stayed here and have always found the site and facilities to be clean, tidy and well looked after. An excellent location to explore the various towns and attractions.

Few days away

Stayed at Carsington water for four nights . A absolute gem of a site . Lovely facilities, hot water all the time in the shower. Great dog walk around the site and plenty of walks straight off the site . All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Will be returning as soon as we can

excellent stay

excellent stay, site was safe and clean, facilities extremely well cleaned and plentyful, site staff very helpful and polite, some very sunny pitches, easy access to carsington water / reservoir for cycle / walk. Chippy wagon visited whilst we stayed, site also advertised other days and other types of takeaways that visit the site car park. Information center full of useful leaflets and info.

Quiet, peaceful location with excellent facilities and warm welcome

From first arrival this felt like a well organised site - friendly people, beautiful location and excellent facilities. We stayed for three nights on the May Bank Holiday weekend, and walked from the site to local pubs, reservoir walks and footpaths. The toilet and shower facilities are very clean, tidy and modern. We'll definitely come back

Great site

Lovely site with very friendly and helpful wardens Main problem for us was the kids, and even parents playing kick about when it is supposed to be no balls games. I know it’s not doing much arm just kicking back and forth but the constant noise of a ball bouncing and being kicked isn’t very relaxing. No balls games should mean no balls games. Also swing ball drives us crazy. Chip van is to be avoided. frozen chips that were hard & crunchy. (not normal chip shop chips) Pizza van was nice but very expensive for a very thin pizza Coffee and pancake van were always sold out.

A beautiful site. Perfect for relaxing

After travelling for 10 days through the country from south to North, visiting some amazing places and spending Easter with the family, we needed a few days rest on our return trip home. On arrival we were warmly greeted. We chose pitch 22 that looked over Carsington Reservoir, of which gave an amazing view from the site and was a pleasure to look out onto. There are lots of walks all well signposted. The site itself is pure heaven for relaxing. The facilities were by far the best that we have ever used in a CAMHC site. There is a lovely coffee/ cake pop up on a Friday and Saturday and a fish & chip van once a week. A very big shout out to the lovely staff. We will definitely be returning.

Need attention

Just got home from Carsington the site was full and when we arrived the queue was on the main road so they decided to let a few caravans in all at once it was like wacky races and when you find a hard standing pitch majority of them are mud so instead of spending money on service pitches why not re do all of them so the mud is not in my caravan

Perfect stay

Lovely site amongst pine trees. Wardens keep it in very good condition. Hot showers. Thanks to wardens for allocating us a pitch near shower block as am currently using crutches. Vendor who visits on Friday and Saturday mornings makes wonderful pancakes and coffee for breakfast. Carsington Water with visitor centre and nature areas about 2 km from site well worth a visit.

Site rules being ignored ruined our stay

We arrived at 1pm and just managed to join the back of the queue up the lane to the site. It took half an hour to eventually get to reception. Warden that met us was very friendly, and also a friendly face in reception. Site has 1 narrow road going through and pitches are small areas to left, at the top end or along the road edge on right. After locating a pitch trying to get down to motorhome service point was a tight squeeze with the narrow road blocked by incoming vehicles. It is a pretty site nestling in the trees but there is only the 1 toilet block which was spotless. Our pitch sat on a bend and electric bollard was other side of a grassed area behind us. Sadly this area was used as a thoroughfare. We had other members not just using the grass as a shortcut but were ignoring our electric cable. It was walked on, small ride on toys were ridden over it, and even a mobility vehicle was driven across it. Then we had the children racing across it on their bicycles. Shouting as they sped alongside our awning to take the short cut and across the electric cable. From the info we found no buses run Sunday or bank holidays and the connect bus has to be booked in advance so as we were only there over Easter weekend we only ventured to the reservoir or walked the dogs around the perimeter walks. Food vendors were available Friday, Saturday and Wednesday evenings Also Friday/Saturday am for coffee and light snacks, though we didnt use any as we had no cash on us and nearest cashpoint was 7 miles away. In general I would say the site is best suited to caravaners or those that tow a vehicle should you want to get out and about or even bikes if you dont have dogs to consider. It is a nice site, the wardens were lovely but it is not a site I would recommend.

Second visit

Pleasant site, good location for walking, cycling, dogs and children. First weekend of season, great to have takeaways on site both Friday and Saturday. Wi-Fi poor and too many trees for our satellite to work but didn’t bother us.
