Enchanting Edinburgh

We found the Edinburgh site to be absolutely delightful, near to a beautiful beach and seafront walk with wide promenade and plenty of benches to break up a good walk. Close to Edinburgh airport the site sits under the approach for incoming aircraft which we found fascinating rather than annoying to see these huge craft at such close quarters. A mini bus runs frequently from the site into the city at a cost of £6 return, but we elected to hire a car from Enterprise taking advantage of the clubs discount and it was only £88 for the week giving us the freedom to come and go as we wished so we could leave our motor home on site. We found the main attractions in the town to be excellent value for the money and visited The Castle, The Royal Yacht and Holyrood House, all accessible with a wheelchair which my wife uses, though the castle was a bit steep, but with rests perfectly doable. We got to use Her Majesty's private lift in Holyrood House to take the chair upstairs and we found the whole building enchanting. The club site was full but still plenty of room between pitches and a great mix of British and continental occupants to pass the time of day with. Excellent service as usual from the wardens and their assistants who gave us a warm friendly welcome and great advice about pitching with our motor home and very long drive away awning, checking to make sure we were safely placed on our pitch. Edinburgh city was a mix of old and new and initially quite difficult to find our way around due to a lot of one way systems that through our sat nav out a bit but aside from that we were really glad we had the opportunity to visit this great city and we have already pencilled in a return visit in the not too distant future.

Edinburgh

The wardens are on top of their job very good at what they do. On booking in prob was believe it or not was 3 people with the same surname not the lady's fault in fact a night mare I would say for her, but was dealt with very well. Needed a water hose as ours wasn't long enough with the help from a chap who was in the know it was soon sought end and even asked if we were ok. Aircraft approach to the airport and if you are next to the road you get the traffic noise last aircraft go s over about 11-15pm but overall beautiful well tendered site

Great stay at an excellent site

This a lovely site with an excellent location near Edinburgh. The site is very clean and with a dog exercising area on site but a beach / promenade nearly within walking distance. Some reviews mention aircraft noise as the site is quite near to Edinburgh airport, to be fair yes there is back ground noise but after a few hours at the site you don't notice them any more and it certainly didn't effect sleeping at night, the flights must stop over night.

Short stay

We stayed here a couple of years ago and loved the site. Staff on arrival were very warming and informative. The site again, was spotless and well maintained and always someone working to maintain the standards. The bus links to the city centre are excellent. One very, very, very, small negative was that we had a pitch next to the road with a bit of traffic noise. Did this spoil our stay?  No way!!!! We're planning another visit soon and maybe booking a partional seasonal pitch. Keep up the super work folks! See you soon.

Great location for trip to Edinburgh

Stayed a couple of nights as part of a week in Scotland. Site was what you would expect from caravan club site, i.e. great. No complaints. One edge is close to a road that has some traffic but not too much to stop us sleep and we were parked right next to it. Planes go overhead from time to time but, as others have noted, not an issue. Bus stop to city centre a short walk away, and a short ride on a very regular bus. Also options for minibus if you don't fancy the short walk. Would go recommend to anyone.

Great for visiting Edinburgh

Stayed for 3 nights to visit Edinburgh and the Mackintosh trail in Glasgow. Good location short walk from the coast. Unfortunately there were not enough electrical hookups and our cables would not reach. Staff not helpful in shop and had to drive to Inverness to but another cable. Toilet block fine but was closed all day on our last day. Hence we left early.

Comment from The Club

Many thanks for your review and we are sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay.  The wardens work very hard to ensure that you have the best possible time whilst staying on site.  The wardens have been in touch and confirm that the toilet blocks are closed for cleaning each day however, the cleaning times are staggered so that a toilet block always remains open for use. A sign is on the door clearly displaying the cleaning times and the wardens confirm that neither of the toilet blocks have been closed all day.   Regarding hook up cables these can be purchased through the office and many apologies if there was any misunderstanding.  A drive to Inverness is a 3 hour drive north one way and there are many places nearer that would of sold a suitable cable.  We wonder if this review has perhaps been left in the wrong place?  Thank you for taking the time to leave a review

Perfect for Edinburgh Visits

This is a lovely, clean & tidy site with friendly wardens.  Nice dog walking area on & off site.  Morrisons nearby.  Bus service to get in & explore everything that Edinburgh has to offer.  Airport noise doesn't personally effect us, didn't notice it.  Will definitely use again.

Recent stay

We arrived on the17th July for 3 nights our last stop in Scotland. The site is very busy and at times can be nosiey with the coming and going on site. The toilets and showers where clean we noticed from previous comments that the wardens where never on time on cleaning times but to be fair to them at times the shower block was not left clean and it tookextra time to clean them regarding the aircraft noise that did not bother us to much. Plenty walks for everybody on the promanada good local bus service nearby. Morrisons and Tescos nearby

.....into Scotland

Edinburgh CC site was our first stop in Scotland and it didn't disappoint. Brought back memories as we had stayed at the site many years ago. Excellent facilities and good transport into City. If you want to see another side of Edinburgh walk along the nearby promenade and chat to the locals. If there was a downside it was the aeroplane noise from the airport but that's being very picky. Superbly kept site with very helpful wardens. Nearby Morrisons supermarket deserves mention as the staff at door was so helpful in showing us where to park our motorhome - oh for that consideration south of the border!
