Dramatic Views

Great location overlooking the sea with dramatic views if the weather is poor - easy to understand why no awnings are allowed. Pitches were in short supply when we arrived (late afternoon) and not surprisingly the best pitches at the upper end and lower end of the site were all taken so we had a smaller than usual pitch. The pub at the site entrance was always busy and we managed to eat there without booking on two occasions and the menu was not bad, although better value was to be had at the Waterford Arms in Seaton Sluice which is easily reached if you follow the coast path. The coast path itself is easily accessed from the site and provides a very pleasant walk (or cycle) past St Marys lighthouse to Whitley Bay. Seaton Delaval (Nat Trust) is not too far to walk although buses run from outside the site regularly and there is also a reasonably sized Co-op on the road to Seaton Sluice should you need it.
