Lovely Stay and Great Site Staff

Annual pilgrimage to Yellowcraig. Love it here - fab for the dogs and a short walk to the wonderful beach. Assistant wardens were fabulous - couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and sorted out a change of stay for us from another site for the last night of our stay. Toilet/shower block is getting a bit dated BUT was perfectly clean and the showers were lovely with lashings of hot water. Quite nice there aren't serviced pitches as (our opinion) they often look scruffy with hoses trailing everywhere and have been on other sites where they are all empty as most people seem unwilling to pay the significant amount extra. Don't understand why people complain about the cost increases - Club isn't subject to an energy price cap as it's a commercial organisation and energy prices have tripled for them. Look forward to returning here next August (already booked).

Great Wardens but Club needs to address some issues

Yellowcraig is our local site, being only half an hour from home. However it’s like entering a different universe, peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of modern day living. We usually spend at least a couple of weeks there every summer, and time it to coincide with the Scottish Open at the nearby Renaissance Club. This time we were joined by our family who had borrowed a campervan and had never “camped” before. Have to say the wardens, Sam and Darren, went above and beyond the call of duty in helping them get sorted with a pitch near to us, even lending them their own power cable as theirs was too short to reach the bollard. Their help was hugely appreciated. Always ready with a smile and a wave as they went about their daily tasks, really great people. As for the site, well we’ve been going for decades and will continue to do so, however I must say the pricing is now getting ridiculous for the facilities on offer. No service pitches, toilet block needs refurbished, no wifi and barely a phone signal. Almost £50 a night this year. So many private sites offer better facilities at much less cost. We used to only ever go to Club sites but that’s now changing as they are pricing themselves out the market. Also why is the toilet block not locked? It’s open to anyone to use and often people wander in from off site to use it. So unfair when we are paying top dollar for the privilege.

Dog Holiday

This is a fabulous place if you want to treat your dog to a holiday. Lovely walk from site to the beach and a lovely woodland walk from site to Dirleton where we went to see the castle and gardens which were lovely. Big dog exercise area on site also. My German shepherd had an amazing time.

Yellowcraig Al

As always a great site and kept spotless an excellent place to spend a few days or longer, ideally situated for beaches North Berwick and Edinburgh. The site could really do with WiFi ad there is very poor mobile coverage. The only fault which is down to parents rather than the wardens is that we had countless children running straight out in front of cars or on bikes without looking to see if there were any cars, fortunately due to low speed of vehicles, they are able to stop in time however it is an accident waiting to happen, maybe if there were notices alerting parents about making sure children don’t just run across the road without looking.

Fabulous site in amazing location

We absolutely love this site, it is 10 mins walk to the beach and about 3 mile to North Berwick town. Great for dog walks and cycling. North Berwick is great for cafes, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. There are some negatives, although we have 2 dogs ourselves, and this site Is very popular with dog lovers, some dogs bark incessantly. On our last visit I was very disappointed to witness some non paying visitors parked in the public car park at the site entrance who brazenly walked Into the site to the shower block, a family of 4 complete with towels and toilet bags! The site also has washing machines which was great for is as we were there for 2 weeks. I mistakenly thought these were provided for holiday makers , however the wardens used them to wash their mop heads and cloths which had been used to clean the toilet blocks! This resulted in our washing being covered in white fibres, this is clearly NOT very hygenic! This practice really needs to stop and I hope the wardens read this review. Overall though I will definitely visit again, but will not be using the washing machines...

Excellent relaxing site

Just home from out first camping trip and 2 night stay in Yellowcraig. Excellent, quiet, relaxing site. Very welcoming staff at check in with the facilities very clean and well maintained. Perfect location for beach and woodland walks and an easy walk to Dirilton where The Castle Inn served excellent food. An hour beach walk to North Berwick where the wonderful selection of small shops and cafes made it well worth it. The harbour area is a must see. Wifi not reliable and phone coverage patchy that said will definitely book again.

Great location, lovely beach nearby

A nice clean site with good facilities, friendly and helpful staff. However, there are few hard standings so book early if you need one. No WiFi at the time of our stay although there is a hotspot by reception. Our phone coverage (EE) was ok most of the time. The site shop is pretty much non-existant, no perishable goods for sale so come prepared. The nearest shop is a petrol station about one mile away, otherwise it's a trip to North Berwick. All that said, it's well worth a visit, especially if you like spending time on a sandy beach, walking (the local pubs are really nice, with good food), want to visit the sea bird centre in NB or spend a day in Edinburgh (about 30mins by train).

Fab site

Second time visiting this site last weekend. Highly recommend Very friendly, helpful staff Spotlessly clean Dog friendly So many different settings of pitches to choose from and all well spaced out and in various areas. Beside beautiful beach and woodland walks Close to the Castle Inn in Dirleton for food/drink. Nice walk into north Berwick with all its independent shops and lots of food options. Good spaces/play park for kids and good golf courses around. Also kids play area in woodland nearby. We will be back again! One downside common for club sites is not having the option to book a particular pitch in advance. But there are lots of nice ones. If you wish a particular area turn up sharp! Another downside (and can be a big one for most) is no mobile phone signal on site. Short walk out will get you some signal. Also only Wi-Fi is a hotspot near reception - again an issue for some.

Great site, great location, very well run.

Great site in an excellent location. Yellowcraig is well laid out and the wardens do a tremendous job of keeping it clean and tidy. Check in is straight forward. Arrival and leave times are made absolutely clear on booking and prior to arrival. The facilities are spotless. This is our second visit to Yellowcraig, once in a busy August and very recently when there were fewer units on site. I can’t criticise the site, the wardens or the facilities on either occasion and will definitely return. My only criticism (and this applies to other club sites) is not being able to choose pitches, which is a pain. If you book far enough ahead, I’d be more than willing to pay upfront to choose a pitch. Or even be able to reserve a pitch on arrival for family or friends that are turning up within the next hour or so. I don’t understand why this isn’t manageable especially in the quieter months. It seems to be a ‘rules is rules’ policy rather than common sense. Perhaps one for the club to consider reviewing.
