Good for families

Looking forward to returning to this site.

Only stopped here for two nights on our return journey via Santander and Brittany Ferrries. We chose here to be reasonably close to the ferry port so that there would be no stress getting there on time. The site is about 50 mins drive with caravan from the ferry port and the route is straightforward. The site itself is set in a valley surrounded by mountains. The Rio Saja, a fairly large picturesque river, runs down the valley. The site was clean, well laid out and the facilities (Showers etc) were good. Though on our first morning when the site had very few visitors, it took forever for the hot water to come through to the showers. When it did it was good and hot with good water pressure and the shower cubicles were roomy with plenty of space to change and dry. We ate in Ruente at a restaurant recommended by the staff. It was good. We took the menu del día. Great fish. José-Marie on the site couldn't have been more helpful and we counted the number of new Spanish words that he added to my spanish vocabulary. He happily allowed me to practise my spanish. Make sure to visit La Fuentona in Ruente, a pleasant post-prandial wander. It has a fascinating story.
