Its an over nighter only really.
Its proximity to the motorway is fab, the bus journey into town is easy. But there is no signage at the roundabout by the Esso garage to show where it is. The site, well in Dec there was no water, you have to take your aqua roll to the shower block to fill from a basin tap. The rubbish bins seem to be miles away from the pitches. The WiFi worked fine in reception. The facilities were OK, a bit old fashioned. As for the showers, I do dislike showering in those cubicles that people have drilled holes through, for perverted reasons, not family friendly in my book. As is common in France a lot of commercial camping (caravans with work vans) staying, even the odd coach! I would stay again as a stopover on my way to somewhere but not longer. Disappointing
Response from the Caravan Club:
Thank you for your review, we are pleased that you found the location of Indigo Royat ideal and that you found travelling into the local town by bus straightforward. Due to its position the site provides a decent stopover to break up a long journey. We regret that you noted some negative issues at the site, we have had the following response from the campsite to your comments.
Response from Indigo Lyon:
Sorry to read your disappointment in your comment even if I understand you’ve appreciated the very access to the site and the perfect location to the motorway.
We are aware about the room we have for improvement on this campsite, and we have had to make some decisions regarding the standard of our facilities.
We hope to see you again on our sites.

Ok for a stopover
The site is located next to the motorway and involves getting accross a few hectic roundabouts. The site is tatty and the surrounding shops are all closed look like awaiting redevelopment the pitches were small and not easy to get onto there are a lot of vans permantly sited there were static caravans filled with contruction workers. I certainly would not haved stopped here for more than one night. The rate I paid by booking through the caravan club was expensive if id just turned up and used my ACSI card id have saved £10 on site fees. I would not recomend staying here unless you are desperate!
Response from the Caravan Club:
Thank you for sharing your experience at Indigo Lyon on our website. Some of our overseas sites do have a heavy static presence as they need to attract a wider variety of holiday makers to their sites and facilities. We regret to hear that you paid more by booking with us than direct with the site using your ACSI card. As of 2016 we have negotiated better rates with the Indigo sites in France to match the ACSI price during low season.
Response from Indigo Lyon:
Sorry to hear you’ve been disappointed with our campsite.
We have a strong collaboration with the Club and its members on this campsite which is a perfect spot for a stop on the way to the South or back home to the UK.
Across the bridge above the highway about 400 meters from the campsite, you can find all kind of shops which usually are opened 6 days a week from 9.00 until 20.00.
Regarding our rates, we made sure from this year 2016, to offer to the club members the “Best Price Guarantee”, for most of our Indigo sites the ACSI card price.
Again, we are very sorry to read your disappointment, but be assured we’re making sure to welcome the Club members in the best conditions.
