Two Night StopOver

Good stop over en route to the Alps. Difficult to find as not on latest caravan Club Garmin Sat Nav correctly - we ended up wrong side of site and routed through narrow difficult roads for last five miles. Actually it is just off motorway. Helpful staff. Nice written guided tour of Lyon supplied by site - took bus and metro - easy. Restaurant at hotel outside site good. Supermarket just across bridge.

Its an over nighter only really.

Its proximity to the motorway is fab, the bus journey into town is easy. But there is no signage at the roundabout by the Esso garage to show where it is.  The site, well in Dec there was no water, you have to take your aqua roll to the shower block to fill from a basin tap. The rubbish bins seem to be miles away from the pitches. The WiFi worked fine in reception. The facilities were OK, a bit old fashioned. As for the showers, I do dislike showering in those cubicles that people have drilled holes through, for perverted reasons, not family friendly in my book. As is common in France a lot of commercial camping (caravans with work vans) staying, even the odd coach! I would stay again as a stopover on my way to somewhere but not longer. Disappointing

Response from the Caravan Club:

Thank you for your review, we are pleased that you found the location of Indigo Royat ideal and that you found travelling into the local town by bus straightforward.  Due to its position the site provides a decent stopover to break up a long journey.  We regret that you noted some negative issues at the site, we have had the following response from the campsite to your comments.

Response from Indigo Lyon:

Sorry to read your disappointment in your comment even if I understand you’ve appreciated the very access to the site and the perfect location to the motorway.

We are aware about the room we have for improvement on this campsite, and we have had to make some decisions regarding the standard of our facilities.

We hope to see you again on our sites.

OK as a Night Halt

We used the site as a stopover on our way south in November, so didn't expect too much luckily. The location is excellent, just off the motorway with an Esso filling station next door and an Auchan 5 minutes away. The cafe on site was closed as expected, the bar was open all day until 8:00 pm but quite limited and the wifi (free in the bar area) was so bad that it was to any practical purpose completely useless. Pitches have water, electricity and drainage which is useful. One oddity about a site that is mainly used as a night halt at this time of year is that the showers etc were closed off for cleaning between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. ?? OK as a night halt but nothing more at this time of year.

Indigo Lyon

Convenient for a stop over between Spain & UK, site was OK for the money. Would not recommend as a holiday site.

Very useful stop-over site

Despite other reviews and the entrance in a seemingly commercial area the site was very pleasant. Nice reception/bar area up in the trees. welcoming with good sanitary facilities.

Ideal for stop over

Ideal for stop over en route. We stayed one night en route to the south. It served it's purpose. The site was busy. Showers were ok to freshen up. Staff helpful. This site served it's purpose, wouldn't want any more than 1 night.

OK for a one nighter.

Used the sight as a stay over on the way back from Spain. Found the campsite rather untidy, with not a lot of organisation. Used the showers just before we left, they were dirty with hair and discarded bottles. When I informed reception they informed they are cleaned between 05:00-07:00 which was not the case. Also had a problem with the sight barrier. It came down between the car and caravan, due mainly to the fact the code box too far from the barrier. I did ask the question about sensors, but shoulders were just shrugged. The place it self is in a good location for stop overs, but all the rest are a minus!

Convenient for a stopover

Stayed on way back from the south conveniently situated but difficult to find as signs not good. Very tight untidy pitches all I can say other than the staff being very friendly and informative is that it served its purpose

Ok for a stopover

The site is located next to the motorway and involves getting accross a few hectic roundabouts. The site is tatty and the surrounding shops are all closed look like awaiting redevelopment the pitches were small and not easy to get onto there are a lot of vans permantly sited there were static caravans filled with contruction workers. I certainly would not haved stopped here for more than one night. The rate I paid by booking through the caravan  club was expensive if id just turned up and used my ACSI card id have saved £10 on site fees. I would not recomend staying here unless you are desperate!

Response from the Caravan Club:

Thank you for sharing your experience at Indigo Lyon on our website.  Some of our overseas sites do have a heavy static presence as they need to attract a wider variety of holiday makers to their sites and facilities.   We regret to hear that you paid more by booking with us than direct with the site using your ACSI card.  As of 2016 we have negotiated better rates with the Indigo sites in France to match the ACSI price during low season.

Response from Indigo Lyon:

Sorry to hear you’ve been disappointed with our campsite.

We have a strong collaboration with the Club and its members on this campsite which is a perfect spot for a stop on the way to the South or back home to the UK.

Across the bridge above the highway about 400 meters from the campsite, you can find all kind of shops which usually are opened 6 days a week from 9.00 until 20.00.

Regarding our rates, we made sure from this year 2016, to offer to the club members the “Best Price Guarantee”, for most of our Indigo sites the ACSI card price.

Again, we are very sorry to read your disappointment, but be assured we’re making sure to welcome the Club members in the best conditions.

stop over in Transit to Spain

Visiting in Feb en route to Spain, this site is just off the Motorway so very useful. Stayed 2 nights to visit Lyon and look around on a Sunday. Parked in middle underground car park and had a wonderful walk round, street markets abound all along the river. Site under heavy maintenance during Feb, water taps all swiched off, so only water sources were toilet block or Motor Home water point. Massive Auchan nearby, good Bistro just outside gate. Little open on Sunday so plan accordingly.
