AS Tranquil as it gets!

Managed to book a night when we suddenly were able to get away a day early. So glad we did, we pitched in the most peaceful spot we have stayed. The sound of the river Washford babbling past and the birds in the trees was a wonderful antidote to the working week we had both just had. You park in an orchard, from the edge of which is an easy cycle or 10 minute stroll into Watchett. As a bonus, the West Somerset Railway also passes there - what a delight to see a steam train chugging by. Don't panic, they only pass about four times a day between 10am and 4:30pm. Watchett itself is a small fishing port with plenty of places to eat and rehydrate - we visited Pebbles Tavern on the recommendation of some locals - quirky with a great range of ciders and beers. Approaching the site is down a farm track, just go gently and all will be well. There is an interesting bridge to cross to enter the orchard, or if you don't fancy it, you can cross a very shallow ford. Keep your eye out for all the interesting vehicles and items in the yard as you pass - and if you are lucky, you can have a very interesting chat with the owner about them. Enjoyed our visit so much, have booked again.
