Poor customer service

Made a booking direct only to have it cancelled with no notification ruined a bank holiday weekend.

Last minute stay

My wife and I phoned Mrs Gass as a last minute decision to find a campsite for the weekend. She was very accommodating. Nice small site for only 5 motorhomes or caravans on a grass pitch with optional EHU and 3 water taps close by. Peaceful stay with only the sounds of the countryside to listen to. Love the sound of the cockerel and the gulls. Countryside and Coast in one spot. Honesty box to pay and at £12 per night, it was a bargain. Love to stay here again.

Excellent CL with option of EHU or Not

We have stayed twice on on this CL in the last two years. It is very tidy and well kept with lovely views over fields. It has short grass within its own fenced off area. There are many interesting places to visit including the South Lake District and a rail journey over the Morcambe Bay estuary is delightful. You have the option of using EHU (£10) or without( £5) We have a solar panel and refillable LPG so the latter is an added attraction for us. Highly recommended.

A little GEM.

Grass pitches, with electric for £10,this is a bargain! As other reviewers have said it is basic, but is clean with well cut grass. The site has three taps so no long trips to fill up your tank. At Great Unswick care is needed as cars park on the roadside this makes it a bit narrow in places. A small road goes by the site but hardly any traffic use it which makes for a quiet stay. We would visit again.

Quiet and level!

We arrived at the site on Friday night of a BH weekend and pitched up adjacent to the water/electric point. As mentioned previously owners live in next village and we saw no one all weekend. A busy little site well positioned for the S Lakes Peninsula attractions. Access with an 8m twin axle van was straight forward but required care on exit due to the angle of the main gate and parked vehicles. No phone or 3g signal at all! The honesty box and instructions are adjacent to the second gate on the site side, not easy to spot.Take an envelope if paying cash.

Good but simple

We staid here in July for one night. The CL is neat and well cared for. We had quite some manouvering to do to level our motorhome and because the grass was quite soggy we were afraid we would damage the grass. We have seen no one during our visit. The owner lives elsewhere and has information and a paying box at the entrance. We had no mobile coverage.

An ideal CL

CL is in a corner of a field which has been fenced off from any animals. The grass is mown and there are nice views. There are frequent water points. Best of all the owner offers two rates - £10 for EHU and £5 for non-EHU, which as we have a solar panel is a real attraction. With an increase in caravans with panels this is good business sense. There is plenty of room between pitches and the locality is handy for the South Lake District. Thoroughly recommended

Good CL

Very quiet site, easy access at gate to site but you need to take care down the road to Urswick.

Everything a CL should be

Everything a CL should be. Friendly owner, well laid out, mown grass, dark at night, quiet. Three fresh water taps beside the fence, and a gate to keep the sheep out. Nice pub within 15 mins walk. Ideal for the Ulverston Dickensian Christmas Market and other events that are run in the town. Plenty to see and do, both coastal and Lake District. It's also a reasonable price at £10 per night.
