Why choose cycle-specific insurance?
Adding bikes to your home insurance can be appealing, as it’s often cheaper than taking out cycle-specific insurance. But it's worth checking your home insurance policy actually provides all the cover you need for your beloved bikes.
Here are 5 reasons why home insurance can fall short for riders:
- Your premium will usually increase when making a claim.
- Home insurance excesses can mean it’s not worth claiming for your losses.
- Public liability and personal accident cover might not be included.
- The maximum bike value that can be insured is sometimes as low as £500.
- Some home insurance cover excludes theft of, and damage to, your bike away from home.

What's included in Bikmo's cycle and e-bike cover:
- Theft cover.
- Accidental damage optin (available on Go and Plus).
- 365 days' worldwide cover, for when you take your bike abroad.
- Returning home cover and emergency bike hire.
- Public liability and Personal Accident cover options (available on Clik and Plus).
- Clothing, headgear and accessories.
- Family and friends cover.
- Interest free - no fees for monthly payments.
