Really lovely site

This site is lovely. In a lovely old town with all the shops you need . Lovely walks all around . Nice area to explore. The managers are friendly and helpful and very smiley . Site is well kept and clean . Showers are modern and spotless. Little cubicles with showers and sinks . Disabled facilities are very very good . Pool area really nice . Little restaurant on site we didn’t visit it so can’t comment on it . We booked one night and stayed 4 . A lot of shady pitches but some in the sun too . You can choose your own which is what everyone wants to do . Can’t understand why you can’t choose your pitch everywhere. This site is a credit to the lovely managers.

The best campsite of our whole trip

We loved this site. Situated on the edge of the beautiful medieval village of Beaulieu, the site is surrounded by water. The toilets, showers, wash-up areas were clean and plentiful and even had hairdryers installed. Our pitch was allocated before we arrived but was fine, a pitch on the side of the site fronting the Dordogne costs more but they did look lovely. The swimming pool had a kiddies’ pool and slides and was kept very clean (no lifeguard). Take an extra-long electric cable with you as the hook-ups are quite far apart. No bar/food facilities were open but we were in mid-June which was still low season. We cycled to Argentat one day, about 20km away, on a nice quiet back road (no real cycle route but it's signposted as being the advised route for bikes and kept us off the main roads). The staff were friendly and helpful and always had a cheery hello whenever they saw us on site.

If you are over 3m Beware!

The site details if your Outfit is over 3m high you must use the entrance at the back of the site! No further instructions given, so you have to ask for them, once you get them, it's still not very clear. If you go to the main entrance there is a very low bridge and you will have to turn around!!! So DONT follow the site signs unless you like doing 58 point turns! That having been said the site is wonderful! Travelling at the end of September gives one quite a different view of a site as it was tranquil and quiet and we had the pick of the plots. River Views cost a bit more but if you go out of season, even the cheaper plots have fabulous views. Lovely little town, lots of places to visit on your doorstep, and everything was clean and beautifully kept. We didn't have the best weather, but just watching the wildlife on the river can keep you occupied for hours. Plenty of places to go with the dog, and easy access across the river.

Excellent site

This site is in a fabulous location between the river and a lovely old town. The entrance is very tight and narrow, but the staff were most helpful and friendly and we chose our own pitch from a wide choice. Washrooms were excellent as was the pool. Lots to do and see nearby. A gem.

Excellent and highly recommended

What a gem! We paid extra for a river view pitch and it was worth every penny. We had a wonderful and peaceful outlook over the river where we watched the world go by. The site catered for all. Families with young children were well catered for but also if you prefer the quieter life the site is big enough to suit everyone. The toilets and public areas were spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The site is only a short walk into the pretty village with a handy supermarket and plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. There are also many other pretty villages to visit in the area. If you choose this site I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Wet period rendered pitches muddy

In such a beautiful region, the storms and rainfall which dominated late May & early June left its mark and the River Dordogne was rather swollen during our overnight stay. Sadly by being there for a short visit, we were allocated a very uneven and muddy pitch. Getting our rig onto the sloping pitch was also tricky with the way trees formed the boundary. This left us feeling rather disappointed overall as there were plenty of good standard pitches elsewhere in the park. While we visited too early for an onsite bar & restaurant, there were an abundance of bars and places to eat a short stroll away in the town. However, we believe this site would have been terrific in full summer - with all the activities on offer in the region and more especially so on the river.
