CL Map with Links

The removal of an easily used map with markers that linked to CL information pages has been a considerable irritation to me and, I think, many others.

As I'm not expecting a resolution to the current situation any time soon I've written a process to extract the publicly available CL info from the Club web site have pulled this into a map for me to use in preference to the Club's new offerings. The location markers are based on the address and postcodes listed on the CL pages.

I've found I can share this and so if you'd like a possibly quicker and easier way to get to CL information, you could try:

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1vB5srTiSxJNjC38-x34o6SmsHx69TmY&usp=sharing

Short Link http://clsites.mx9.uk

You should be able to zoom in and out to get to an area you're interested in.

Click on a marker to see the name of the CL and a link to its information page. You may get a redirect warning depending on your browser and security settings.

I hope this is useful to people, but do post back if you see any problems.

I've been in touch with the Club about web site issues but I can't get anyone to engage.

My view is that for CLs they are trying to implement a hugely over-engineered solution to a simple requirement but that they won't back off and revert to something more suitable for fear of losing face. I expect we are all paying dearly for the work involved.

What I did was the product of a Sunday afternoon and it seems to work fine on a PC, tablet and phone - it's quick, easy to use, gives a full view of all CLs and is easy to maintain.

I'll wait and see what develops on the Club site, but until something fit for purpose arrives I'll be using my Google map!

Alan, I’ve reported your opening post in order to ask Rowena to make it a sticky thread. Otherwise, it will vanish down the page into oblivion.

How idiotic of the Club "not to engage".

Arrogance beyond belief.

Thanks for your input.

Why does the CAMC stance not surprise me. A member can knock up a solution in a couple of hours yet we wait months for the "professionals" and they still can't get it right.

Thanks, Alan, I am sure it will be a great help to we regular CL users, and thanks to Peedee too for his earlier map.

It is working fine on my Kindle, so you can add that to your list Alan.

I see it’s now a sticky.

Thanks, Ro.

Fantastic resource. Thank you Alan191.

Just noticed, if you isolate the Welsh CLs one of them appears near Newquay, Cornwall. I think this may be something to do with the spelling because the Welsh town is two words - New Quay.

I often get this muddled when trying to set the sat nav!

Alan

I have made your post sticky as it seems to be an excellent resource. Just a question for you, do you have any objection to the link being shared with other groups?
