Great views of Oxwich Bay

This is a typical grass field CL, mostly sloping with just two flat spots suitable for a caravan or motorhome. You will need blocks/ramps to level your outfit. There is one water point for drinking water and a second for use when emptying your toilet. They are marked but the labels could be clearer. The toilet and shower rooms are basic but functional and the electric shower has a good flow and plenty of heat. I'd happliy visit again.B eare in there are no shops nearby so stock up. I got milk from the shop at Oxwich Bay but as you can expect it was expensive, but then the petrol go to elsewhere would be more. Why come here? THE VIEWS - Oxwich Bay is your front window!

Value for cost

Well signposted from road and good directions on web page. Pleasantly disorganised site, in that no signs but owner helpful on arrival. All grass not a problem except was wet and we move just before another major downpour came to an area which was much firmer as had slippage on first position getting onto ramps. For MH sloping in most area and ramps necessary. Great views to seaward. Walk the to coastal path / dunes and beach is lovely through woods approx 30 mins, but steep so only if relatively fit. Good TV reception. Facilities basic but clean not heated, shower good spray, with heat control and hot. Would visit again.

Beautiful site, let down by a couple of little niggles

A beautiful site with great views across Oxwich Bay, and a very helpful owner on email & phone. Plenty of space - we chose a pitch at the front of the site where it's more or less level. Further back, near the cottage, we would have needed levelling ramps. Plenty of EHU points so a very flexible layout. Grass was kept mown short as well. Buses pass on the road outside, but it is a 10 minute walk in either direction to a bus stop, and the road is fairly busy with no footpath. Now for the couple of niggles. As others have mentioned, the shower needs a little sprucing up. £50 on a new shower head (which leaks and is held together with tape) and hanging bracket wouldn't go amiss. Whilst definitely useable, and better than some we've seen, the whole block needs a bit of TLC (and a sign on the door). Secondly, it's not obvious that black waste goes down the manhole near the entrance, until you see someone else doing the "daily duty" with their cassette. A sign here would help as well, which could also point out that the rinse out tap is the one to the right of the cottage, not the one to the left of the cottage! The taps themselves do have labels, but neither tap nor label is obvious, and I did have to request one other camper not to use the "drinking water" tap to rinse out their toilet cassette! Better still, run a bit of pipe down the field and have a rinse out tap right next to the manhole? However, that aside, we enjoyed our stay, and would return.

June 2024

Lovely welcome and was shown round site. Site chosen for good footpaths from site to Gower Heritage Centre, Nicholaston Woods, Three Cliff Bay, Oxwich. Good footpath out the back of the CL into the moors. Lovely drive to Rhossili, big National Trust car park free to members. Good parking for motorhome. Worms Head and Rhossili beach a must see. Walks can be printed off from NT website. Lovely views from site, good location. Facilities good. Separate shower room and toilet. Well equipped with toilet paper and clean. Recycling facilities.

Position & views top notch.

This site is excellent for wonderful views & peaceful surroundings, ideal for visiting all the Gower if you have a car with you, not so good with Motorhomes as narrow lanes/roads. Lovely walk down through woods to Oxwich Bay. Can also walk out of the back of the area up onto the hills behind. Would give this site 5 stars if shower upgraded/replaced, which hopefully the new owners (last 2 years) will do. Pleasant owners when chatting.

Stunning views!

The CL was easy to find and well set back from the road so very quiet and peaceful with stunning views. We never saw the owners during our 2 night stay but rang them when we arrived to find out where to park up. She was helpful on the phone and explained where things were but some better signage on site would be helpful as signs on the drinking water tap and tap for waste disposal were almost impossible to find and could easily be muddled up. There was one toilet and one shower, functional but really past their best. There was EHU but we didn't need to use it. The site is very sloped so ramps are needed. It is a really beautiful spot and we will definitely return again.

Lovely site

Follow the directions on the site and it’s easy to find. Don’t use the map tag. Lovely quiet site, overlooking Oxwich Bay. Shower and toilet for camping use, very welcoming owners. Easy access to beaches, and walks on the hills behind. Definitely worth visiting.

Poor value.

Huge difficulty finding this site! Clearer directions needed. A What3Words location would help. A hedge covering the CL site sign making our arrival even harder. The owner did clear the hedge over the sign after we & the other guest on site mentioned this. The whole CL needs signage to help you find the field, each pitch, the toilet block, fresh water & Elsan point. Once parked, super views across the bay & a very peaceful area. We enjoyed a great walk to Oxwich Bay through Nicholaston Nature Reserve. We felt that, currently the quality of the facilities on this site are poor in comparison to other £23 a night CL sites we have visited. When the owners have finished renovating their house on site & if they turn their attention to renovating the toilet & shower block, this could be an amazing CL. During our stay, the toilet/shower block was accessed only past hazardous building materials. Had to ask the other guest on site where to find it! Neither are very clean including full waste bins. But at least hot water in the shower. Although none in the toilet. Blocks needed.

Lovely views but rather basic for the price

Well kept field with plenty of space for 5 outfits. Chocks needed as all slope to some degree but additional material provided to assist. Shared the field with some (fenced in) goats who were v friendly and entertaining. Views are amazing and I think this is the main selling point. Also good access to oxwich bay and many other beaches. Good hook up although 1 of the pitches does require a v long lead it seems. Downside was the v basic 1x toilet with only cold water tap and 1 shower which had seen better days although did provide hot water. 1 drinking water tap at the top of the field. No info board. There were recycling bins / soap / toilet roll / chemical disposal point (man hole cover). For £22 a night I think there should be a hot tap to wash your hands after using the toilet facilities.

Peaceful CL with Stunning View

Stayed on this CL for a long weekend in our small caravan and it wasn't long enough!! We were blessed with fantastic weather and the view from the pitch was stunning looking to Oxwich Bay and across the Bristol Channel to England. The site is up a short driveway, so you are away from the road which means it's wonderfully peaceful. There is a toilet and shower on site, but we have on board facilities so didn't use them, but they looked clean and spacious. The site is a large grass field on a slope. It's the first time I've had to raise the jockey wheel on our van to level it. But thanks to the 'useful information' and previous reviews I was prepared with some wood and levelling blocks, so all was well. The chemical disposal is very basic, but it is fenced off. Very friendly owners. Lovely to chat with Alan and Angela when they visited to feed the goats, who are delightful. Will definitely be back 😊
