Great views but Geese poop and noise

We were placed on the none hard standing field right next to the lake, sounds lovely and the views are beautiful and so is the location, but the field is covered in goose poop, every inch of it, and there are loads of geese that make a hell of a noise in the very early hours of the morning and constantly all morning, we were woke at about 4am by them. It was too much. If you like fishing and don’t mind the noise then this is a lovely location for you, but not as tranquil as we like it. The lake view pub is gorgeous and a great spot to view the lake and it’s birds and a few minutes walk away, highly recommend.

Good if you fish, disappointing and let down.

I wish I had read the reviews above before we went!! Disappointed. Came home early. The lane way to the Caravan and Motorhome site was full of potholes and our caravan was rocking all over the place- these holes are very dangerous and could damage the caravan. It was also a very tight squeeze through the path between the trees. There were no facilities nearby, never found a shower! The 6 amp electric was of no use to a family of four, and we resorted to using our gas for heating and boiling a kettle. There is also no WIFI on site. I cannot believe we were charged the same for this site as other sites with the club with excellent facilities. Tuition for fishing was also advertised and I contacted the people in charge of this a month before our trip as I thought it would be a new skill for the kids to learn. On arrival I contacted them again and hung about waiting for them to get back to me as promised but they never did. I appreciate the weather was bad but there was lots of people fishing and we had brought wet weather gear with us. The lakeside clubhouse was a godsend and the food was lovely. The lake beside the clubhouse could also do with some more lighting as there was a platform that could easily be entered to by accident in the dark by a child or someone who is intoxicated! Despite the weather we found some great footpaths from the site and took ourselves off on lots of walks. A big thank you to the kind man who towed us out of the mud in his 4x4.

Lovely place But

Booked on this site as we had a family gathering local. Booked for four nights to make a nice break. On arriving it’s a large but stunning site. Be aware of pot holes on the lane from the road to the site especially in wet weather as they are very deep. Next shock was the £22 a night charge never paid that much at a CL before but as I mentioned above it looks like a stunning location. Third shock was the electric. The ampage is so low that we couldn’t boil the kettle which we felt disappointed with considering how much we had paid per night however we used a gas kettle, but the biggest disappointment was when getting ready to go out my wife has long hair and the electric was so low with nothing else on it wouldn’t work a hair dryer for which we did not have an alternative. It sort of spoilt our stay as we’ve used a lot of CL sites and on occasions tripped the electric but not like this. I would like to recommend this site as it is very picturesque sites next to a lake with abundance of geese and ducks about but the experience with the electric was a major disappointment

A very basic site

Upon arrival be really careful of your speed (as you should always be), the road is full of pot holes that could cause damage if your not careful. Hubby said the warden was very friendly, he explained where the water tap was, how to get to our pitch and then said we would have to take our grey waste home as they had no facilities. The site has 1 shower and about 4 portable toilets but nothing on the Motorhome side so you either use your own or walk around the site. The water pressure is really low, it took almost 25 minutes for us to fill up our water tank. The electric seems to be low wattage and kept tripping every time I tried not use any of our appliances that we normal use on a club site. I did not see a designated dog walk area however you can walk your dog around the site and there is a field which is also used as on overflow car park which I let my dogs run in, just be really careful of the dog poo as there is lots. The site is on the Gatwick flight path so you will get plane noise from early morning and the fishing people turned up early this morning as there was a competition going on. All in all if you want really basic site this one may well suite you, I certainly was not for us. Also be warned the cost was £21 per night

New Year

What a brilliant time we had over New Year,   Dave and his crew put on a disco and BBQ with a great firework display to finish off.  It was a great turnout and a good time was had by all. Thanks all at Henfold.

Dont expect a 5 maximum outfit CL.

We were in the meadow which had a lovely vista to one side of one of the lakes with ducks/geese etc. and the large field with caravan storage and seasonal pitches on the other. Unfortunately this meant that any anglers wishing to fish at the lake near us simply walked through our fenced off "CL" and between our car and van. A better segregated area for the CL part would have been preferable. As said previously all staff were very friendly but we were charged £17 a night and not the £13 as advertised. Didn't notice at the time as it was cash only and we couldn't remember what was in the guide. Our fault I guess.

large CL

Henfold Lakes fishery is a CL, but dont expect a small site. We were pitched alongside 7 other units, and on the field opposite was another cl site, and a rally field, which also had a lot of stored caravans on it. That said, we were there in Februay, and the site was very quiet. We had a warm welcome, and our dogs were particularly made welcome! In front of our pitch was a small lake with ducks and geese, which was very pretty. Altogether they have five ponds. We only actually saw two fishermen during our stay, but I imagine it could get busy when the weather warms up a bit. They welcome dogs, on the lead, and there is a public footpath you can access off site which runs along a field and into a small wooded area. I think this would be heaven for anglers, and a good spot for anyone needing a stopover if only basic facilities were required.

A busy, pleasant CL

Good hardstanding pitches overlooking fishing lake. Another busy CL and rally field is across the other side of the lake. Friendly check-in in the warden's caravan. A cafe is available in the clubhouse.
