We arrived out of the blue to find a huge marquee in the field and preparations in progress for a wedding at the weekend, so we started to drive away, but the friendly owner waylaid us and said we'd be fine there for one night. He came and made sure we had everything we wanted in an adjacent field. It was a nice level, grassy field, with pleasant views, and we had electricity and access to water etc. And of course our evening's entertainment was watching the continuing preparations: the beautiful flowers arriving (the groom's mother is a florist), and all the drink, too.
A young man had to spend the night in a minibus guarding it all! The icing on the cake (as it were) was that the groom's father took us into the marquee, which was all beautifully laid out and decorated. It looked wonderful! What a lucky couple! All the very best to them!
(I think this would be a very pleasant, well-organised site to stay at in normal circumstances, and very near the Geological Walk at the British Geological Society, which is well worth a visit.)
