Great local getaway

We were looking for a local getaway with plenty to keep us occupied and we were not disappointed. The 5 CL pitches are all hard standing and fully serviced - right next to car park but as it’s winter not sitting out so no bother to us. There is seating around the Wharf and an undercover seating area which as weather improves ( we hope) will be nice. Easy to book via email and got a prompt response off Ian who met us at the security gate and gave us lots of information & a quick tour round. Found plenty to do in fact enough that we added an extra night onto our 2 night stay. Walked both ways along canal both 8 miles there & back with a pub stop both ends. Recommend the Red Lion for service and great staff and the Blue Bell for its cider. Also walked around the Lakes and got many pictures of birds. This will be a regular ‘fancy a couple of nights away’ place for us to go. Phone reception was patchy, which for us, was also a bonus

Unusual CL but many attributes

This CL is actually a narrow boat service station with a caravan park attached with fully serviced pitches. all hard standing and level. There is grass between pitches for awnings of just sitting. There are nice modern facilities, Toilets and showers a few meters away. The downside of this CL is the car park for the marina is right next to the pitches. Although this didnt cause us any noise problems as the car park gate is key holder only, the proximity could put some people off. The upsides are security, a very few strides and you are on the tow path with good walks in 3 directions. The narrow boats are a pleasure to look at and watch. We were meet by Ian who is very friendly and knowledgeable in all matters. All in all a pleasant couple of nights at this CL.

Very friendly and accommodating!

We had a very nice welcome from Ian and he always helped us with any questions, provided great information about the area and made sure we felt at home at the Lady Lane Wharf! :-) Peaceful location next to the canal and walking distance to a nice pub. Closed gate campsite and you get your own key, so you’re free to come and go as you please. Ten minute bike ride to the train station to catch both the train to Birmingham and Stratford upon Avon. We’d definitely come back to stay here again! :-)

Great place to be snowed In!

Thank you to Ian for all his help during our stay. His communication was quick, friendly and extremely helpful from our first enquiry to our departure. We arrived on the first night to a light covering of snow, and awoke in the morning to a very picturesque snowy scene. The canal froze over on our third night! The campsite is quiet, secure and in a beautiful location. We walked along the towpath in both directions, where there was plenty to see, and found the great bakery 1/2 hour's walk away that Ian had told us about. We also enjoyed a number of pints at the Red Lion after a short walk: a very popular and busy pub. Hopefully we'll return during the summer to explore further. Thank you for a great stay.

Great site in a lovely location

We stayed at the Lady Lane Wharf CL site, what a fantastic location. ALL the on site facilities were 6 * We visited the Red Lion public house for a meal, again fantastic value and great food, very nice to have on the doorstep. This site is in easy access to the NEC and we will definitely be back. The manager was extremely welcoming and helpful 10/10 to him and his staff

Super stopover

This site is exceptionally well run by Ian who also provides a friendly and informative welcome. The site is flat with reasonably-sized hard standings, all with hook up. Facilities (toilets, showers etc) are close by and immaculately clean. The trees which fringe the site would provide welcome shade in the summer. The lane which provides access to the site is a bit of a rat run in the rush hours but quiet the rest of the time. As the wharf is also a marina for the canal barges and passing boats it is to be expected that it will get busy during the tourist season though the car park in front of the pitches is far from noisy as access is limited to those with key access. Perfect as a stop over it would also be an ideal base from which to explore the canal systems of the area and the local National Trust properties. Highly recommended.

Positive experience

Ian was very welcoming and approachable, reserved a pitch and gas bottle for me as requested very responsive to emails, safer security and given a key, my only recommendation would be to have keyless fob or keypad entry gate door intercom system where you are buzzed through as Ian has to meet you at the gate definatly need to come back to explore the rest of the area along the canals etc

Not as expected

It is a 5 star for a friendly reception, serviced pitch and amenities but then it goes downhill. I did not think from the site pictures that I would be camping in a busy car park with cars parked in front of us, coming and going at all times and to top it all to be pitched under an extremely large oak tree and being peppered day and night with falling acorns and concerned as to whether one of the branches was going to fall off.  If you are considering going please note it is a 4 1/2 pitch site not a full 5. Very clever marketing for a duff site. Cedric.

Friendly marina and great services

The boaters and folks running the site are lovely and friendly. White water and ehu per pitch, with grey run off. Black is nearby. Lovely facilities too including washing machines and dryer. Enjoy walks and bike rides by the canal. Find the bakery and butcher shops in Hockley Heath - fabulous food.
