Lovely site, shame about the Wardens
We visited Brora in our Motorhome in May on our tour of Scotland. The entrance is very tight, particularly for large caravans but the site is very well placed. Its just a short walk across the golf course and you are greeted with a wonderful beach.
However, we very nearly didn't get the opportunity to see the beach. We arrived at around 4pm, along with 4 other vans all within 15mins of our arrival! The site was very busy but fortunately we had booked a hardstanding in advance. Unfortunately the office was closed!
Why the office was closed at probably one of the busiest times for arrivals was beyond me. A scribbled note at the office said pitch 6 was available but it was a small space only really suitable for a small camper van and not our 7M Motorhome.
Fortunately my partner spotted a warden so she asked where our pre booked pitch was, only to be treated with, "Sorry Im not working today" and despite further questioning they repeated that they were "not working today"!
We eventually found a pitch off the one way system next to the grass area and assumed it was ok to pitch there. Later in the afternoon a warden knocked on the door to check all was well. We explained that we were very disappointed with the attitude of one of his colleagues, refusing to direct us to our pre paid pitch. The warden said that he didn't have to advise us where to pitch because he wasn't working that day, and if we didn't like it we should write to the club!
We did of course write to the club to complain about this unacceptable attitude and 3 months later we are still waiting for a reply! If a warden is walking the site wearing a club polo shirt he is representing the company and should act in such a manner the club would expect whether officially working or not!
I can only hope that since our visit in May the Wardens have been re-trained in customer relations.
