Commons Wood Review

Excellent site for visiting London or as a stopover if travelling from the north enroute to the channel crossings. On the edge of habitation so its never going to be quiet and peaceful but as an alternative to staying in a London area hotel this site has a lot going for it. Just a couple of miles from the A1. Trains from Welwyn to Kings Cross are approx every 30 minutes with the journey taking about 30 minutes also. Buses to the train station just a few hundred yards walk. The site has a recently decorated wash-room, all weather pitches and a large central grass area, for use in the dryer months. We've stayed there a few times now when wanting to visit London; its obviously used by commuters and traders so there can be some traffic noise as these people depart for their daily grind each morning however once they've departed its relatively quiet again. Will never win an award for the prettiest site, but the wardens do a good job of keeping it clean and tidy. Its overriding advantage is its position just off the A1 and with its excellent connections to the East Coast mainline.
